"Hello?" I ask stepping up on to a rocky ledge "are you okay" a woman is on all fours her hair falling down framing each side of her face she looks familiar but the scene before me is nothing familiarity I see her fingers drag through the dirt as she lets a blood-curdling scream release from her lungs and with a crack of her shifting back the scream turns in to a blood-curling howl.
"Luna, Hello? Earth to Luna." I snap back to reality as I see Rachael waving her hand in front of my face, "Sorry" I stammer out still dazed from my daydream. "Anyway as I was saying, Lucus asked me out! it's finally happening!! It's not like I've spent 6 months trying to get his attention or anything and who knew what would finally get him to notice me was deep throating that banana at the work Christmas party!?" Rachael almost squeals out in excitement. Racheal has to be the most.. out there of my very large two friend, friend group. She isn't scared of what people say or think she's purely a living party machine, seriously her weekends would put me in a coma.
"yeah, yeah who knew" I agree still dazed and in my rambling thoughts as I grab another sip of my coffee, she babbles on about something, what dress she's going to wear on her date?. But I'm still somewhere else in my daydream trying to break it apart, the woman looked so familiar the dream seemed so real it was almost like a vision... like I was living through what she was. "Hey Thomas," Rachael says before continuing her story about Lucus ex, again I'm snapped out of my head looking up I see Dr Thomas Reed, holy hell he is a stunner! even in his Dark Blue scrubs "Good morning Rachael, Luna" he nods to us in his deep honey voice "Good morning" I reply smiling he turns to the coffee machine as Rachael makes googly eyes at me followed with a kissy face.
Rolling my eyes I go back to my coffee, "hey Luna can I speak to you in private for a moment?" I look up surprised by his words and confused but of course. I look to Rachael who is looking eager to hear our conversation. Raising an eyebrow at her she stands "ugh fine" she starts to whine "Yall are no fun" as she walks out I see her give a small wink at me. As if saying get girl. Harboring a small dramatic eye roll from me, crazy she is.
As soon as Rachael is out of the break room Dr Thomas locks the door and immediately crashes his lips with mine. "I thought we would never get time alone" he breaths in through kisses I let out a giggle "Rachael is a talker I'm surprised she even left". We break the kiss apart and immediately undress it's been so long since I've felt him I've been craving his touch. Thomas removes his shirt revealing his relatively toned stomach but his arms are his moneymakers his biceps rolling hills of muscle, lifting me onto the desk he passionately kisses my lips biting them softly he then moves down to my shoulder holding my breast his cupped hand he slowly pinches my nipple I let out a small moan overwhelmed by complete pleasure feeling him explore my body. He starts to work his way down my body my hand immediately fined his blonde curly hair. Bang Bang Bang "Luna, Dr Thomas There's been an animal abuse situation in Hazelbroke. We believe its an animal hoarding situation we have about 40 cats and 60 dogs coming in we need you to help prep" Rachael screams.
"Fuck" I breath out quickly chucking my clothes back on, we both exit the break room and run down to the loading bay where large groups of animals generally come into. "I need word what are we expecting?" I turn to Rachael "Mostly abandoned starving animals our main worry is are diseases, conditions within the facility where bearly livable the majority of Cats where found in a tin shed with no to little water or food. My fingers slip into the latex gloves "It been 45 degree days every day for the past 4 days expect very heat exhausted very dehydrated animals, What about the dogs?" I ask bearly containing my rage "not much better" says Rachael as she puts on her gown and gloves.
I walk out to my car feeling the cold whip of sea air across my face, drying the sweat from my brow. I slowly stumble across the street to my car when I catch a quick movement in the corner of my eye like a large figure. Turning around I position my keys into wolverine like claws "whos there?" I call out into the darkened street. Calm down Luna it's probably just a cat, opening the door to my car I sit down letting a sigh of relief fall from my mouth my legs are killing me I turn to my ignition when I hear a tap on my window. I scream, shock taking over my body leading me to involuntarily rev the engine. Thomas waves and motions for me to roll down the window, "you dick!" I yell "You scared the hell out of me what are you doing??" he lets out a laugh at my panicked expression I scowl in return jerk "I was wondering if you would like to grab a drink with me? its been a long bloody shift and I'm dying for one."
I think about his request I don't know I'm so tired "No not tonight, I'm so tired" I say a small frown forming on my lips "Maybe another night?" I ask, Thomas smiles "Yeah of course sleep well, and drive safe" I turn the car to drive "I will have a drink for me" I laugh "always" he smiles back waving as I pull off.
The moon was bright tonight having come out from behind the clouds I could see it was almost full, tomorrows a full moon I guess mothers gonna be off her rockers speaking of which I pick the ringing phone from my pocket "Hello mum" I say trying to be enthusiastic not wanting to show her I'm tried just another reason for her to beg me to move back home "Luna how have you been I have been calling you all night?" her voice filled with concern "I told you, mum, I had a twelve-hour shift today and I wouldn't be home until late" "they are running you ragged there come home. Work at the Vet here it's much quieter." she starts, here we go I think "Mum we have talked about this I'm a grown woman I'm old enough to handle a 12-hour shift and move out of home I don't need your protection forever" I sigh "I love you but I have to go I just got home" "Wait Wait tonight is the full moon be careful god knows what lurks out there" she says her voice filled with warning "please mum you're being overdramatic anyway I have to go night mum" "Wait Lu-" I hang up the phone and step out of the car on to my stony driveway. And walk into the house.
Chucking my keys down I kick off my shoes into a corner of my room, turning on the lights I make my way to the bathroom slowly taking off my shirt and jeans as I go. I turn on the shower turning it completely to cold letting it wash away the day's drowsiness. With a jump, I am out of the shower immediately as a loud bang followed by the crash of what sounds like shattering glass. My blood immediately runs cold as I wrap a towel around me. I stare at the door waiting for the door to crash open breathe Luna breathe. I walk towards the door slowly pressing my ear against the grain of the wood. BOOM Smash I run from the door slipping on the wet tiles and crashing towards the shower as a large sharp paw breaks in through the door. I stare in disbelief unable to comprehend what I see a bear, a bear is in my house! I immediately dismiss the though bears don't live in Australia. I start screaming hoping that I will be heard regretting not bringing my phone into the bathroom, with a loud crack the door breaks off the hinges. I push myself against the shower closing my eyes so tight I'm scared I might pop my eyes back into my head.
The beast rumbles sniffing the air slowly making its way towards me, I want to run scream hide fight but I can't move the creature moves closer sniffing as it goes I open my eyes and immediately regret my decision a wolf at least 5.6 - 5.7 feet tall stands inches from my face its sharp canines bore in a snarl, fur black as night. I shut my eyes against willing them the shut tighter I'm going insane this isn't real, this isn't real I keep telling my self over and over again this isn't real. A loud growl exits the creature shaking the floor beneath us. I start to tremble my life flashing before my eyes how much I wish I could have done more with a snap of its jaw I feel its teeth sink into my shoulder I hear a blood-curdling scream it only takes me a minute to realise that the scream is coming from me before the world goes black. And I feel like I'm floating down into a dark pit.
