I stare at him trying to make out the words he just spoke they were so soft it was almost inaudible. "What?" I ask a dumbfounded look plastered onto my face, "you're my mate, it's like a soulmate but for werewolves" I stare at him shocked. Soulmate? I didn't even know that was a thing. I thought it was just some mumbo jumbo used to sell wedding rings, I looked at Dylan he still seemed to be going into shock. "What's wrong? is having a mate bad?" I ask he looks back at me snapping into reality "what no? no, it's amazing your mate is your other half they are meant to complete you." Dylan explains "Then why do you look so shocked sad even?" I ask curious if having a mate is such a good thing then why is he acting like this? "Because I have a mate." his shocked expression turns to one of pure loss "I had a mate" he corrects I look at him confused "you can't have more than one?" Dylan looks at me and shakes his head "no not normally your mate is meant to be a one-time thing there is only one perfect person for everyone out there one she was meant to be mine until she died in the war with the witches" he looks down saddened by the memory, I can't help the feeling of jealousy that rises from within me thinking about Dylan loving another woman. I reach out for his hand revelling in the feeling that runs through me as I do so, giving Dylan a reassuring smile "we all get second chances." Dylan smiles at me "Maybe I'm yours."

The moon is starting to rise as we make it to Dylans favourite spot I take his hand as he lifts me on the rock beneath him "The moon makes us stronger, but the full moon it rivals all other powers. During the massacre of my people, the witches were careful to strike when the sun was out during the summer solstice where witches are at there strongest. If we had battled on a full moon the roles would be reversed." He explains as we walk across the rocks "This is it" he takes my hand helping me to my feet I land on the rock beneath us panting "when you said your favourite spot was a few kilometres away I was thinking like 1 or 2, not 10" I breathe again happy to be resting. "Oh please, I carried you half the way you big baby" he laughs kicking my side softly I laugh its amazing how I've only known him for a day yet it feels like we have been friends for years. "Not all of us have the stamina of a big bad wolf" not yet anyway, I sit up looking at the view from my position on the mountain "Wow! this place. It's beautiful!" I stare in awe at the rolling mountain cliffs that roll down to the deep valley below "I thought it would be a peaceful place to shift." I reach out for his hand when will it happen? he points to about midnight in the sky "when the moon reaches its apex" you will begin to shift "don't fight it you will only hurt your self more, let your self shift."

We lay down watching the stars waiting for the moon to reach its apex "Dylan" I turn to him his face looks even more remarkable under the sunlight the moon highlighting the features on his face his blue eyes look like shiny sapphires the bridge of his noes lips. He looks like an angel sculpted in marble even his sent is alluring I feel myself growing closer to him until my face is only inches away he grabs my face in his hand sending a shiver of pleasure through my body. I don't think I could ever get used to that feeling, his face is centimetres to mine I can feel his breath brush against my lips wanting me to close the gap, that's when I feel it like a pull, pulling me from the earth like half of me is trying to tear its way out of my body I let out a yell and fall inwards on to myself I feel the bones in my body snap and twist I hear screaming but I can't tell if its from me "Don't fight it Luna" I hear Dylan say but his words are lost to the agonising pain I let out another scream "don't fight it luna, the more you fight it the more pain you will be in" I close my eyes feeling the moon take over me letting whatever beast lay dormant inside of me out. Another loud crack shakes my body I open my eyes watching as my hands turn into paws with caramel brown fur starting to prick out for every inch of my skin.

I lay there shaking the pain still rattling my body I here more bones crack but I don't feel the pain I slowly look up seeing that Dylan has now transformed his fur a light silvery grey I stare at him still to sore to move he nudges me nuzzling into the side of my neck. I look back at him and slowly begin to stand to my surprise my wolf is slightly larger than his I let out a howl and pounce around him the pain no longer apparent he lowers his head. I nudge him a little and start in a sprint to where I assume is the direction of the house. Something about this feels familiar like I have lived it before I shake my head I think I would remember if I have shifted into a wolf before. I run through the woods leaping over branches and roots I've never been so agile felt so free, I pick up my speed until I see a small clearing with a small lake I stop in amazement at the green grass spotted with colourful wildflowers I wander into the small meadow sniffing the flowers around me. I trot over to the water taking little sips when a weird smell invades my nostrils a familiar smell but never so powerful I stop and look up from the pond across the other side I see a white wolf Greyson? no Greyson has a dark grey wolf I look up at the wolf they smell familiar how do I know them how can I smell them so well we stare at each other for a minute both unsure what to do. I'm startled out of my trance of the majestic wolf as Dylan comes howling through the tree line I turn around towards him I cock my head at his weird little howl and prance and turn my attention back to the white wolf who has now vanished... Weird.

We walk back to the house I had gone very off course from where I thought the house was. Coming out of the tree line Dylan shifts back almost effortlessly and continues a steady pace beside me I avert my eyes noticing his lack of clothing he lets a smug smirk cross his face catching the direction of my quick gaze. Greyson walks out on to the back porch "well look at you" he chucks a pair of pants to Dylan why still looking at me I give a small twirl of my knew wolf form Greyson walks over placing a blanket over my shoulders "did you teach her how to shift back?" he looks towards Dylan. "Nope, that all on you, wise master Greyson" Dylan laughs. Greyson turns back towards me "it's not going to hurt as much as it does shifting into a wolf" he says assuringly "I want you to imagine putting your wolf back into a cage imagine yourself, your face eyes body call on your self back.

I do as he asks it takes a few goes of concentration before I finally start to feel my bones shift back into place I look up at the men now sitting on the porch "How does it feet to be a werewolf?" Dylan smiles "Amazing" I almost yell back laughing "I felt. I feel powerful."
