Lake Of Storms
Jack:
"Percy, are you, uh, sure we should go to Lake Of Storms? I've heard some really abominable things have happened there." mentions Roene.
"Yeesh Roene, have some fun for once. It's not like we're gonna die or anything." whispers Percy.
"Okay, guys, can we just go already like I'm getting really bored. Jack, you agree right, let's just get out of here." Annabeth mutters probably wondering why we can't ever just get to where we're going.
We head to a train station in Denver, where we live of course, and we buy eight tickets to Lake Of Storms.
"Happy now?? I got on your stupid train to your stupid lake for this stupid trip." huffed Roene.
"Yeah, maybe." the rest of us said in unison.
I look out the window at the beautiful forest, all the while noticing how innocent and beautiful Thalia Grace looked while she was asleep. Do you know what it feels like to fall in love? It's really a beautiful thing. As I drifted off into a deep sleep, I took one last glance at Thalia Grace and thought, 'why can't she be mine?'
Thalia Grace:
A few hours later, a muffled announcement startles the group awake.
"We are arriving at our final destination, Lake Of Storms. All passengers please collect your bags and exit the train in an orderly fashion."
"Jack. Jack, come on wake up buddy." Jennifer whispers into Jack's ear.
As he rubs his eyes, I look out the window and gasp.
"Woah." I help Jennifer wake up the others and once they are all awake I mention the scenery outside.
"Well, look who's finally gone out of Denver for something other than a class trip." Annabeth snarls at her twin sister Roene.
Roene looks hurt, and avoids eye contact with her sister. Grover looks at Roene then at Annabeth, wondering how two girls so different could be so similar.
"Whatever, Annabeth." retorts Roene.
"Hey guys, we're here!" Percy almost shouts. Percy was right, we were at Lake Of Storms.
Jack:
We took a bus to our cabin, and as we were arriving, Percy declared in a fake but authoritative voice, "Welcome, to Lake Of Storms! Your cabin, Poseidon's Trident."
Wow. The cabin was gigantic and beautiful. I settle down in a hammock and start reading my book, Stargirl. Thalia Grace sees me and I smile at her, and she smiles back. Beaming at me the deck, was the most beautiful girl I'd ever seen. Thalia Grace.
Thalia Grace:
Wow. It's beautiful, you know. The water, the cabin, the sky. All of it. Just so beautiful. It is an artists dream to find a place with such a strong aura of beauty and life, my friends from art class would be jealous. As I look around, I catch Jack in the hammock, reading a book. He smiles at me, and I smile back. I approach him and asked, "So, um, this place is really, well, alluring."
"Yeah." he replies.
"So, uh, what are you reading?" I murmur.
I didn't think he heard me, but he did.
He looks into my eyes and says, "Stargirl. I'm reading Stargirl."
Wow. I never knew a guy who had read Stargirl. It was like my favorite book when I was little.
"Really! That was my favorite book as a kid. My mom would always sit by my bed at night before i went to sleep and read me a few pages before she, she, um, died." I sit down on the hammock and cry myself to sleep.Jack:
I find Thalia Grace sleeping on the hammock outside. She looks so peaceful. I still wonder how someone so gentle, could have a fire inside her so fierce and bright.
"Hey, Thalia Grace, wake up." I mutter while shaking her awake. "Dinner's ready, but I want to, uh, ask you something."
As she sits up in the hammock, she gives me a dirty look and snaps, "Whatever, just make it quick."
I don't think now is a good time. So I'll ask her something else. "Oh, uh, what do you want, Coke, or Sprite?"
Sorry, I panicked! She has a confused look on her face that slowly changes to a grimace.
"Well mister intelligent, you've asked this before, you know I want Coke."
As I leave I start to think about how I should've just woken her up, told her dinner was ready, and walked away. Maybe I should stop trying to love someone who doesn't love me.
Thalia Grace:
Luke didn't have to come to me. As I watch him leave, I notice something. His hair looks more brown than blonde. That wasn't Luke. It was Jack. I didn't mean to hurt him. I was just upset about my mom.
I feel like a stuck up rich girl who couldn't care less about anyone else but herself when I walk inside. I see jack sitting there with Luke, Grover and Percy, playing some sort of video game with a hurt look on his face. I don't have the courage to go up to him and apologize, but I want to, I really do. I rush off into a room where the rest of the girls are, and as I peek behind me, I see Jack watch me disappear, probably wondering why I was being so rude.
Jack:
She walks into the cabin and barely gives me a second glance. As she rushes off into a room to hang out with the girls, I have to wonder what has changed within her to make her so mean to me. She glimpses at me before she disappears into the room, and I just blink back tears, and continue playing Assassin's Creed Unity on Percy's PS4.
Later on, we started eating dinner. Everyone's favorite, hamburgers and fries. Thalia Grace is eating salad and fries instead because she's vegan. She thinks animals are more than just chicken or steak. She believes that animals have families just like we do. As she always said, 'If you walk the footsteps of a stranger, you'll learn things you never knew.'
As she eats, I think about all the memories we had and all the good and bad times we had, like when my sweater got stuck in a locked door and we had to cut me out, or when Thalia Grace lost her earring in a laser tag arena. hot tears start to flood my eyes when I realize we'll never have times like that again and it breaks my heart into pieces.
"I'm sorry, may I be excused?" I choke out.
I rush out of the dining room and all they way to the dock and I just sit there and cry.
Thalia Grace:
He rushed out of the room. I had no idea I had hurt him so badly. He's outside on the dock, and he looks so upset.
"Jack, buddy, I'm sorry. I thought you were Luke and I was just upset about my mom." I tell him.
He wipes away his tears, gives me a blank stare and says, "Whatever."
I've truly done it this time. I've ruined the last friendship I really cared about. I was even starting to have feelings for him.
"Well, I'm sorry, and I hope you can forgive me because, well," I stop because I'm not sure what to say. "I love you, I guess."
"What did you say? You love me?" he whispered.
Maybe. I might have said that, I thought. "Yeah, maybe."
"I love you. You annoy me more than I ever thought possible, but I love you, and I want to spend every irritating minute with you. I believe in true love, you know. I don't believe that everyone gets to keep their eyes or not get sick or whatever but I believe that everyone gets to have true love and that it should last as long as your life does." Jack replies and slowly encloses me in a tight embrace.
Jack:
She loves me. She said she loves me.
"I love you. You annoy me more than I ever thought possible, but I love you, and I want to spend every irritating minute with you. I believe in true love, you know. I don't believe that everyone gets to keep their eyes or not get sick or whatever but I believe that everyone gets to have true love and that it should last as long as your life does." I respond.
I embrace her, and her dark hair shimmers in the moonlight. As I look into her gorgeous brown eyes, I finally I know what it's like to have someone love you as much as you love them. As I lean in to kiss her, I say, "True love stories never have endings, you know."
Thalia Grace:
The moon shines a golden pathway on the lake. A pathway I will follow with Jack until death do us part. Everyone has crowded on the deck, but I ignore them. All that matters right now is Jack.
He leans in for a kiss he says, "True love stories never have endings, you know." And before he can say anything else I say, "Shut up and kiss me already."
It's a beautiful night, you know, the moon is shining, the lake is gorgeous, but best of all, I finally have my happily ever after.
