All throughout dinner I had gazed into his deep green eyes, as if we were both stuck in the same dream.

During the past month I'd been travelling with the Fashion Weeks. Even when I'd been in London, we'd barely managed to see each other with both our schedules being so incredibly hectic.

His father had just recently retired and was now being awarded the prestigious UEFA President's award. Tonight was all about him, but my eyes were glued to his son sitting at a nearby table with his family and other very powerful people.

He sent me a dirty smirk, knowing I was utterly consumed by him. Just the thoughts of what would happen once we were alone were driving me crazy, and time seemed to be going much slower each passing minute.

"Darling, I've been thinking of ways to have you be introduced to Scarlett Black," my mother beside me leaned closer to tell me, keeping her voice low so the politicians and members of royal family at our table wouldn't hear.

I cleared my throat quietly, trying to gather up enough courage to tell her I was exhausted after Paris and just wanted to go home to sleep. I had only had two hours of sleep, as I rushed back to London once Paris' fashion week had come to an end, all so I could attend this gala and be with Lucas.

"There's Jessica, she's friends with Scarlett's good friend Emma Taylor. We could get her to—" she was very intent on having me network at an event like this.

I had never been invited to this kind of an event before. Lucas had insisted I come, which is how I even got invites in the first place. Everybody who was anybody was here, and it was honestly quite overwhelming. My mother was incredibly joyous, though.

She was what Lucas liked to call a 'hellish and narcissistic momager'.

"I really should go home, mum..." I offered her a small smile, "I'm so tired after Paris, I've barely had any sleep..."

She sighed, and I began fearing for a negative response. "Alright, darling. You worked hard this month, I'll let you rest now. Shall I call James to come pick you up?"

"No, that's fine," I shook my head quickly, "I have a car waiting already."

"Oh, okay, then," she nodded and sipped her champagne, "I'll stay here and make connections for you, alright?"

"Sure, mum.." my voice trailed off while I typed a discreet reply to Lucas.

To: Lucas: Take me to dinner at least before a request like that... x

I looked up just in time to see him grinning mischievously down at his lap, reading my message. My heart rate increased and I felt hot, needing to hug him and kiss him.

Theo Black had finished his acceptance speech and had sat back down at their table. A few celebrities I recognised had come up to congratulate him, and he listened patiently to them while holding his wife's hand on top of the large, round and dressed table.

My attention moved back to Lucas when I noticed him standing up. I could feel my heart rate increase more, posture straightening as the overpowering need to stand up as well and follow him hit me.

Lucas Black wasn't someone who liked the limelight. In fact he hated it, and preferred to keep to himself. Of course, being the only child of Theo and Scarlett Black caused paparazzi to be hot on his trail wherever he went. The only reason he had attended this gala was to support his father, as tonight was very special for the recent retiree.

I watched impatiently as Lucas excused himself and managed to slip away through the mass of people that had now gathered around their table, also wanting to speak to him.
