"I'll have James come fetch you at 8AM. Make yourself look pretty, doll," my mother was speaking to me on the phone, "shall I come over? We do have some business to go over..."
"I'd rather go over everything at the start of next week, if that's alright with you. I need a breather after the Fashion Weeks," I told her, cuddled up on my couch underneath a soft blanket.
Lucas had been studying for a couple of hours already, while I'd caught up with friends through FaceTimes and texts. I received an invite from Lucas' best friend, Anton, a mutual friend, to attend his first movie premiere. He had directed a short film, and we were all very proud of him. He had always been the most creative of the bunch.
"I'll let this time pass. You need to start working hard again, doll, we're not at the top yet," I could hear her voice fading, "I'm going now, but I have some very exciting news! I'll save it for when we talk business."
"Okay, mum. Bye, I love you," I told her slowly and she hung up without replying.
I sighed to myself and opened up Twitter. I scrolled through articles and tweets about me from last night. It seemed everyone was going crazy over the gown I'd worn.
I then logged onto my second account and went onto Lucas' profile, where he had uploaded a photo of him and his parent before yesterday's gala, all three dressed up beautifully.
Both men were wearing a pitch black suit with a dark dress shirt. It was incredible how similar Lucas' facial features were like his father's, yet the colour of his eyes and the shape of his lips were definitely more from his mother. Scarlett Black had worn the most gorgeous golden gown, in the photo smiling widely and hugging her husband's side while he had his arm over her shoulders. They looked so in love.
I then focused on Lucas in the photo. I felt giddy just looking at him, still having to tell myself that I was actually together with him. He had his chin tilted up a bit, gaze a little hooded and jaw clenched, hands held together as he stood by his parents.
Both Lucas and I had second accounts, which we used mainly to comment on each other's posts without attracting the media and gossip. It was exciting, and a bit of an inside joke between us.
@karensteelbuns: so hot @ikeepitjuicyjuicy 🥵
I tagged his secret account so that he'd see the comment on his main account's post. I then logged out and went back onto my main.
I replied to a few texts, before deciding I was getting way too bored.
I got up and began making my way into the small office I had in my apartment, where Lucas was studying.
Surely he needed to take a break.
The door was slightly ajar, so I pushed it until it slowly opened and my eyes landed on him, back turned to me and nose buried in a thick book on the desk.
He had put on a black hoodie, matching his black sweats, and was still sporting a small ponytail on the top of his head which I'd put on him.
"Knock, knock," I stepped into the room, slowing down to a stop when he glanced back.
"Hey," he spun around on the office chair to face me, "what's up?"
