Autumn's POV:
A few moments pass before he finally talks.
“The reason why I showed you the bar earlier, I play there with my band some nights.” He says breathlessly. I nod and give him a shy smile.
“I want you to come to tonight’s gig.” He says and stands up, checking the time on his phone. Before I could reply with something resembling a ‘yes’, he pulls me up from my arms and starts to head toward the door.
“Crap I had to get there 15 minutes ago to set up.” He mutters and grabs his coat and we walk down to the bar together.
I wasn’t used to the bar scene, considering I wasn’t legal age yet. I’ve only been in a few and it was either because I was grabbing lunch or I was going to a concert. 4 guys including Caleb busily walk across the stage, checking the sound. I sit at a nearby table; feeling dwarfed being surrounded by people in their 20’s.
I must have zoned out because I was woken by a huge cheer and applaud. Caleb’s band walks up on to the stage together and they are all smiles.
“Hey guys we’re The Ever After band and we’re playing a few new originals tonight so hope you guys enjoy!” the guy with the dirty blonde hair, which I’m assuming is the lead singer, says and the audience erupts in cheers. I see that Caleb is the main guitar and that the guy with the clean-cut short brown hair is the drums. The last guy looks weirdly familiar to me. He has brown hair with a streak of blonde through it and plays the bass. He looks sort of like Marcus but completely different at the same time. I could not imagine Marcus playing in a rock band let alone dying streaks into his carefully gelled hair. I laugh at the thought of Marcus dying his hair but seriously that guy cares way too much about his hair.
“The first song we’re going to play is called ‘Stop and Breathe’” Caleb says into the microphone before starting the instrumental intro.
“Let’s go back to the time
Where everything was fine
Let’s go back to the days
Where everything was a ‘phase’
Before I fell hard for
The girl that never wanted me
Just stop and breathe
And realize who you truly are
Just stop and see
That maybe it’s worth the wait
Yeah
Just stop and breathe~”
Caleb is smiling at me as he sings backup vocals. He has this voice that’s rough but sweet and is perfectly harmonized with the lead singer’s. As the song progresses, they finally reach the last part of the song.
“Just stop and breathe
And realize who you truly are
Just stop and see
That maybe it’s worth the wait
Yeah
I know she’s out there somewhere
Waiting for the perfect guy
Just stop and breathe
And realize who you truly are
