This chapter came out a bit short, but trust me it just makes more sense this way. Now I just have to figure out where to go from here...
Of course I, as the marvelous writer I am, know excatly what I'm doing!
That was a total lie by the way.
You guys will be the first to know when Andrew Loyd Webber gives me rights to POTO!
Ezra's POV
"What do you want?" My voice shook as I backed away from him. I wasn't afraid of him, I was afraid of her. If he was here now, she would be right behind him.
"What? Can't a man visit his little brother?" He asked sarcastically.
I said nothing. He ignored my silence and begin inspecting the room. My eyes followed his every movement, never missing a step. I knew they would eventually find me, I'd just thought it would take so much longer.
"It has been nine long years, and look at you! You're all grown up!" He glanced up from the stack of my own books he'd been looking through. "How old are you now?"
I gave him a sideways look, trying to figure out what kind of game he was playing. He'd never been one to procrastinate.
"Twenty-two" was all I said.
"Huh, where has the time gone?" He acted like he was actually thinking about it.
"You didn't answer my question." I said carefully.
"Hmm?" He turned away from my things to look at me. "Oh that. Well if you must know, mother - you do remember you have one those right?"
"How could I forget?" I mumbled dryly.
He smirked before continuing. "Anyhow, mother sent me here to find a girl...and you of course."
"What girl?" I asked, confusion obvious in my voice. Why would she want a girl?
"Dark eyes, black waves, short, pale. I think we both know who I'm speaking of, do we not?" There was something sinister in his eyes as he spoke.
"Kat." My mouth hardly moved to say the name. "But why?"
"Don't know, I just work here." He smiled at his own remark.
I stood frozen. My mouth had gone dry and my hands were shaking. Why Kat?
"So are you going to tell me where I can find her?" He said after I refused to respond.
"Damien, please." I pleaded. "You don't have to obey her."
"And what do you propose I do? Run off and hide for nearly a decade? I don't think so." His eyes were burning and his words were acid. "I accepted my fate. I accepted what I am, and suggest you do the same."
"You are her child. Don't you dare pretend you are any different from me." He stepped closer to me, making me want to shrink back and hide but I didn't.
I stayed in my spot in the center of the room. He was right, but I wouldn't allow him to win, not now not ever. He wasn't the man I knew all those years ago, not anymore.
His face was inches from mine, as he paced in a small circle around me. "You know, for months after you left I hoped and prayed that you would come back for me, but you didn't. You were my brother and you left me for dead."
