“Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!” Erin screams as she leaps up from the loveseat and dances her happy dance. She’s a strange girl.

I let out a laugh, seeing her emotions do a total 360. I can hear the boys laughing and cheering in the background.

“Am I the only one that hasn’t been totally 100% sold on this?” said a voice, silencing everyone’s laughter.

Zayn. He hasn’t spoken this whole time. Now I know why. He was looking at me with disbelief in his eyes. He didn’t think I could do it.

“What do you mean, Malik?” Niall asks, confusion dancing across his face.

“What if this doesn’t work out? I mean, what if she can’t do it, we haven’t even heard her sing.” Zayn said, looking at his 4 friends.

I think he had a point, although, I never took him to be the logical type. My bad. But what he said struck a nerve. What did he mean when he said I couldn’t do it? He didn’t think I could, huh? Well then, I’ll have to try my damn hardest to prove him wrong. I hate being underestimated. The four other boys look at me, their faces showed everything.  They were thinking whether I could do it or not. I lift an eyebrow up and turn towards Erin. She gives me a looks that says They’re idiots.

“How about we hear you sing a little, love?” Liam asks, being the rational one that he is.

I nodded my head, preparing to sing, but before I could open my mouth, Erin’s phone starts ringing.

“Hello?” she says into the iPhone “What? Oh my god! Don’t let it happen until I get there, okay Mom? Alright. Love you too, Bye.”

She hangs up and her face is as pale as a ghost.  My heart race increases.

“What happened Erin?” I ask.

“S-S-Surgery, he has to have surgery, right now. I have to get to the hospital. Now.” She says, her eyes were wide with panic.

“I have to get there now! Come on boys, we gotta go!” she says as she strides quickly towards the door.

“What about her singing?” Louis asks.

“She’ll be fine. She can do it, trust me.” She tells them.

“And Rosemary, I’ll email you everything you’ll need to know and you’ll leave in 3 days. Get everything straightened out with Linda, and thank you again. You don’t know how much this means to me.”

She gives me a hug and leaves out the front door, going towards the car. The boys follow her, each of them giving me a different face. Liams’s was an encouraging smile. Louis’ said I believe you, but not so much. Harry and Niall’s said I know you can do it. And last was Zayn, his face still full of disbelief. He nodded as he left, the only amount of acknowledgment I had gotten from him this whole time.

“Hey, Zayn, can I talk to you for a moment?” I ask his retreating back.

He looks towards his friends that stopped and looked back at us and nods. Go ahead of me, I’ll be there in a minute.

“You don’t like me, do you?” I ask, eyeing his suspiciously.

“Truthfully, no I don’t.” he says, his eyes full of honesty.

I was a bit surprised at his instant response, but I didn’t show it, I kept my face as neutral as possible. If he could be this blunt, so could I.

“I don’t think I like you either.” I tell him my face expressionless.

“Is it because I don’t like you?” he asks, keeping his face blank.

He was good at this, keeping his emotions in check.

“Not because you don’t like me, I’m not that sort of person, but because you don’t think I can do it. You don’t believe in me.” I answer him.

“Okay fine, you don’t have to like me, I’m fine with that. But how do you expect me to believe in someone I just met?" He asks, he was starting to get agitated.

“The others don’t have a problem with me, so why do you?” I ask challengingly.

“Because, do you know how hard we’ve worked for this?” he says through clenched teeth “I don’t want to put all of it in the hands of a girl that doesn’t have any experience. I don’t want you to ruin everything.”

And with that he storms off, leaving me at my front door. I just broke him.

Is it bad that I feel triumphant? I always did this with people. I always broke them down, to see how they really feel.

He doesn’t want me to ruin anything, huh?

I was going to prove Zayn Malik wrong. I was going to prove to everyone that I can do anything I wanted. And that’s a promise. I don’t break promises.

I watch as their car pulls out of my driveway. Liam’s driving, good, I wouldn’t trust Erin to drive in the state she’s in. I watch them rush down the street and out of sight.

A thought ran through my head.

You just met One Direction and agreed to go on tour with them.

Crap.
