"Adam. Adam? Hun you listening?" I asked, waiting for him to reply. Adam said he'd video call to talk to me tonight so we could talk even though we couldn't hang out. Adam's vacant stare out his window clicked back to focus on my face. "Yeah, yeah. Sorry about that. What's up babe?" I rolled my eyes. "Do you ever pay attention when I'm talking or do you always just stare out your window?" I said jokingly. "Well I'm sorry I don't pay attention to your every word every time you speak. Maybe I should just record our conversations or take notes!" He replied huffily. I was shocked at his angry tone in his voice. "Jeez, calm down mister man-struation. I was only joking." He glared at me through the camera for a second and then flashed his eyes back out his window again. "What do you find so interesting out that window anyways?" I replied, angry he still wasn't listening to me. "What, I can't just look out my window for a second?!" "Sure, you can look out your window. Id just appreciate if you would pay attention to me for once!" We were shouting now. "Well maybe I'd pay more attention if you wouldn't be such a... such a.. BUTT!" "Oh, because you couldn't come up with a better insult!" "At least I didn't call you what you really are!" "And what's that?!" "A worthless, insecure little sunfish!"
My heart stopped. At least it felt like it. Adam's words rang in my head, and tears hinted at my eyes. I slammed my phone down on the table and ran crying into my bedroom, horrified that he would even begin to think of me as some kind of two-timer.
