Chapter Two

Kings PoV

Digging my claws into the back of the creatures neck I pull my arm down, slashing through its skin, jumping backwards when it goes to grab me, Oscar digs his own class into its head "This guys huge! I think we might need Chris and April!" Meredith shouts as she kicks the creature in the stomach before slashing its stomach with her own claws "we can handle it!" Max shouts, growling I jump up using Oscar as a boost, piercing my claws back into its neck I use my left hand to slice up its eye "Blind it! If it can't see us, it can't hit us!" I shout, Max and Meredith nodding as they do the same as what me and Oscar did, Meredith slashes it's eye "Now! Full assault!" Oscar shouts.

Walking into the cafe, I push my elbow behind my head, my left hand reaching my shoulder blades, stretching as I walk towards Chris, April, Jessica and Cody "Did it go well?" Cody asks, nodding I hold up the tooth of the creature "We struggled to get it down, they just keep getting bigger. We was considering calling you, but king strategised." Max explains, handing the tooth over to April she looks at it closely "an S-class Fanger - good work." She beams, laughing I lean back.

Sharpening my claws on the wall I yawn "Do you really have to sharpen them in the staff room?" Looking over to August who's got a cup of coffee in his hand "I just thought it was a room, I didn't mean to disturb your eating area." I tease earning a scoff from the small Male "You know you could help me sharpen th-.." I go to say but stop as he throws a banana at me "No." He responds, laughing I walk towards him, my hands moving to his shoulders "Come on, it doesn't have to be a one-time thing.." I mumble, the door opening, I feel August push me back "August, it's..." looking at his friend I scowl "Sorry, I was getting something to eat, I'll be there in a second." He covers up, his friend nodding as she backs out "Great." He snaps at me, smiling I shrug.

Chewing a rock as I stare at the cup of coffee in front of me, I feel the rock disappear and someone's hand gripping my fangs "Stop chewing rocks in the main room of the cafe." Looking up at Meredith, I reach over for my rock "I need to sharpen my teeth." I grumble, Meredith pulling the rock back "Sharpen them in your own time." She snaps, groaning I lean back into the couch, my arms folded over my chest now "do you not like coffee or something?" She asks as she sits next to me, looking back to the cup in front of me I inhale its scent uneasily "it doesn't smell right." I grumble, hearing her sigh she facepalms her hands "Your so paranoid." She retaliates, pushing it away I rub my hand against my unkept short beard "I'm careful." I return sternly.

After an hour of convincing Meredith, I had finally got my rock back and was sat in the couch by the window, chewing the rock like a piece of candy. Meredith, Max and Christopher sat with me, drinking the cup of coffee and tea served to us by the staff "King!" Snapping awake when Oscar falls in with April bleeding in his arms "The creature we was fighting caught her..." Cody murmurs as he follows them in with Jessica "Crap." I grumble, standing I take April out of Oscars arms, walking towards the back of the building with hurry and concern.

Hovering over April, opening my mouth I inhale "what are you doing!?" Looking up at August and two of his friends, the Waywards turning to face them "I have to suck the poison out of her" I say, leaning down to April's waist, the black poisonous bite pulsing slightly, digging my fangs into her waist I begin to suck the poison out of her flesh, Max and Meredith pinning April down as she thrashes and howls "She's in pain!" One of August's friends cries as she covers her mouth "Of course she's in pain, King is pulling the poison out of her with his teeth." Jessica snaps, pulling back from her waist I spit the poison on to the ground "there..." I breath, swaying uneasily "You just took in a load of poison king." Oscar says sternly, leaning back down I pull the last bit of poison out of her before spitting and stumbling backwards "Next time. Don't almost kill my little sister." I snap, my chest heaving.

Laying on my back as Meredith drains the toxic liquids out of me "Your the only one dumb enough to drain poison out of someone's body with your own mouth." She growls, shaking my head I rest my head on the backs of my wrists "She would've died if we had done it through a pump. April needed my help, and I would happily put myself in danger if it meant saving her life." I retaliate, looking to the side as August enters I scowl "I'll go check on April." Meredith says as she steps back and glances to August who's walking towards me.

Exhaling I close my eyes, August checking the pump that's pulling the excess poison from me "You called April your little sister?" He says, covering my eyes with my forearm I exhale "Why are you here? I thought we was a one night thing." I say, swerving the question August had just asked "I'm here because I just watched you drain poison from another wayward. And your injured. I don't care if it was a one night thing, you are one of the eight owners of the place where I work. So I care for your wellbeing." He explains, laughing I sit up "She's not actually my little sister, When we were both found by the government section that controls our unit, we were thrown together. I was only ten years old and she was eight so we was both pretty scared. She refuses to leave my side, She was intended to be in unit B but she wouldn't leave me." I explain, his brows furrowing "My real siblings rejected me because I was born a hybrid. April is the closest thing I've got to family. She might as well be my little sister." I say.
