Chapter Six

Kings PoV

Pushing myself back with my hand I land on my feet, my other hand pushed out to my side, my claws pointed towards the sky "Don't push yourself King!" Max shouts, waving my hand I jump towards the creature, raising my arm I pierce my claws into its neck as it's arm skims past me "Owned..." I smirk as I drop down onto the ground, stretching back with a load groan "Your too persistent." Meredith grumbles as she pokes to abdomen I wince slightly "See, you are still healing." She snaps, shrugging I lean my head against the backs of my wrists.

Walking into the cafe with Meredith and Max, I look around for August before my eyes settle on Eve who's sat near the counter, where August is stood serving people with a smile "You've got to be kidding me." I growl, walking towards August, already feeling Eves gaze on me "Oh, your back. How'd the mission go?" August greets me with a smile, yawning I lean on the counter with a groan "Oh, I killed the creature but I do feel knackered. Movie night?" I ask with a smile, hearing him laugh he shakes his head and sighs "I'm working late shift tonight. Covering for Ewan." He says, humming I tap my jaw "oh, oh, would you look at that? I'm one of the owners of this here fine institution? I say you can have the night off to watch movies with me." I beam, watching as he sighs with a smile I push myself up with a smile of my own "see you tonight." I say before turning and walking back towards Meredith and Max "Your such a romantic." Max laughs, Meredith rolling her eyes as she pushes us out of the cafe.

Leaning back into the couch as the movie plays out on the screen I push my hair back, yawning in the process "Did Eve say anything to you?" I ask without looking to August who simply shakes his head "He was talking to my pals but that was about it." He says as he eats the marshmallow cereal "It's irritating me that he's here - Back in Symbolica." I growl, hearing him sigh he sits up and looks down at me, his brown curly hair falling over his hazel eyes, I let out a held in breath as he smiles "He's harmless. No one can take you on." He says confidently, laughing I fall back into the couch "Your mood alters between Pessimistic and optimistic quicker than a lightning bolt." I exhale, looking to the side when he leans back down to continue eating his cereal "What can I say, I'm talented at everything." He smirks.

Hearing the alarm go off I jolt up, the box of cereal falling off of my chest and onto the floor "Crap.. I've got work.." I grumble, hearing August groan he sits up lazily "What time is it..?" He asks with a low grouchy voice before his eyes shoot open and he dashes to his feet "I've got University!" He panics as he grabs his jacket and such "Work tops university." I retaliate as I pull my Olive green jacket on "No, because your your own unit. I'm taught by people, I'm expected to be on time!" He says before opening my bedroom door and walking out with a smug smile, growling I grab my shit before following him out the door.

Standing on the edge of a cliff overlooking Oscar, Max and Jessica battling with a creature, I silently watch as the wind rakes through my black hair "I'm assuming you sent Eve off with a snarl." Looking over to April I scowl "Of course I did. You expect me to talk to him?" I retaliate viciously, my fangs hanging out of my parted mouth "you could've at least given him the chance to explain himself. He was too scared to when you lost control back in the day." She says, scoffing I whip my head to the side, a low aggressive snarl echoing through my throat "of course. Your too busy with your sights on August." She murmurs, standing upright I turn slightly to her "August has no part in this. And we aren't even together." I say clearly now, the snarling vanished "But you want to be." She shoots back as I stare at her "I liked Eve you know. He had a lot of potential." She murmurs, scowling I look back down to the three who have killed the creature "August has a lot more potential then Eve. Trust me on that." I mumble before turning and walking away.

August's PoV

Laying my head on my sketchbook I yawn, unaware of Ewan and Steph stood over me, Ben, Alex and Kylie stood over by the door "You look knackered." Ewan says as he pokes my cheek I wave his hand away "King and I were up all night watching movies, I think I only got an hour sleep in." I murmur, hearing Ewan gasp he leans down "So despite you standing him up, your now spending the night watching movies with THE wolf of the Wayward Elite Eight." He says, nodding I close my eyes again before they are forced open by Steph "I can't believe how lucky you are. That man sure is a dream boat. He's certainly taken a liking towards you." She says, a little envy dripping from her words as she sits down in front of me "He's not all what you see him to be. He's actually a big softy and Loves watching me draw." I murmur, ignoring the knowing looks I'm receiving from both of my best friends.

Pushing myself up I stretch "I need food." I groan, Ewan laughing as he catches me, Stephanie nods as she pats her stomach "Me too, I haven't eaten in like nine years." She exaggerates before turning towards the three stood by the door, I fail to notice Ben who goes to say something to me "So are you considering actually going out with King the great?" Kylie asks, shrugging I scratch my jaw "Things are good between us both, I don't want to ruin that." I mumble, Ewan laughing as he shoved me "You can't deny love August, it'll just come and bite you." He says with a laugh, rolling my eyes I go to turn towards the food truck but slam straight into someone.

Gathering my bearings I look up at King who's holding a wooden box "King?" I ask, watching his face light up, my friends back up slightly "Aren't you suppose to be on a mission?" I ask again before he holds the box out for me, opening it to reveal a large tooth "I finished it. It was this huge multi-animalistic beast, it had a tiger body, a lion head, it had like shark fins and such, it was really weird. I brought this tooth back for you." He smiles as he hands the box over to me I laugh as I examine the tooth "Sounds dangerous, are you okay?" I ask, watching him lift his shirt he shows me a large bite mark on his side, I tuck the box under my arm as I lean forward to look at it "You need to go to see Aiden, King." I say In concern, watching his wave his hand he laughs "It's fine, I've had worse." He hums as he points to the knife scars "Keep laughing at death and someday death will laugh back." I sigh with a smile "I've got to go back on another mission but I'll see you tonight?" He asks as he backs up I nod "Wouldn't miss it." I smile before he turns and sprints back towards the other Waywards.

Turning to my friends, Ewan stands there smirking as Kylie tries to pry the box out of my arm "He brought you back a tooth? That's awesome!" Steph cheers, Kylie sighing  as she steps back "You know how penguins mate by bring a rock to their desired partner. King Adler brings you parts of creatures he's conquered." She smirks, laughing I push her slightly before turning and continuing my way to the food truck.
