Mac: Feels like I've just been lowered into the back of a van
Doc: Common, we've been through much worse than this. Plus, the people we work for run this place.
Mac: That's what creeps me out. You've seen the shit they keep in containment. Who knows what they keep down here, away from the rest of civilization.
Micheal: This site is primarily used for research and weapons testing. If there is an anomaly down here, we'd know about it.
Mac: What about you Vic?
Vic: As long as it's not another outbreak like we dealt with back in Zimbabwe, I'm sure we can handle it.
Mac: 3000 bucks says it's another tear to a different dimension.
Ross: Can't be. If it was, we'd see some fucked up shit. Floating objects, different color sky, unknown lifeforms.
Mac: Ok Einstein. What do you think is going on?
Ross: Can't be certain but, I think this base may have been attacked. And judging by the lack of personnel presence, it was an inside job.
Doc: An inside threat huh? That's interesting. My money's on an anomaly.
Mac: I'll take you up on that.
Micheal: the Only anomaly I've known to be this far south is the anomaly code-named "Kraken" and that ones already been terminated.
Doc: Shame, would've been one hell of a squid soup.
Micheal: All right, we're approaching the top floor. Vic, you're on point.
Vic: Roger.
The elevator slows down and comes to a complete stop. The doors slide open into a dark abyss. Everyone flipped their night vision on by touching the right side of their glasses. Outside the elevator was a two-way hallway with a sign on the wall that read "Left: communications center" And "Right, Executive office"
Vic: Gotta two way street here.
Micheal: Ross and I will take the office. You three check out the communication center.
I lead Doc, Mac and myself out while Micheal and Ross went the opposite direction. After taking a few steps in the hall, we heard a distant noise.
*psh psh psh PSH PSH*
Vic: Jesus
A motion sensor must've turned on the lights. Everyone was temporarily blinded by their night vision when the lights flashed them. We quickly switched off our night vision and continued to patrol the first floor.
Mac: Well, at least the backup generators are still active.
Vic: Shh. Look.
We saw the comms center. There were monitors and radio equipment everywhere. Some monitors showed live security footage, others were static or just turned off. In the center was a big screen displaying "OFFLINE" in bold red. More importantly, not a single soul was in sight. Our area of the floor was clear, we waited for Micheal and Ross to finish up their side.
Vic: 1-1, this is 1-4. The communications room is clear, with no signs of life. We'll be over here when you're done.
Micheal: 1-1 copies.
Mac: Where the hell is everyone.
Doc: No idea man, if not here then, the living quarters would be the only place where they can be.
Vic: We'll pitch that idea when Micheal gets here. For now, let's see what we can find here.
Mac: I'll check and see if there's anything on the monitors.
