It's been a whole week since he did it. Since Deku...Izuku jumped. Since I lost my sight of color. I... I still can't believe he did it. His mom's been secluded in her house, not leaving or talking to anyone.
I'm standing on the edge of the building where he did it. If I look down, I can see where it was. It's roped off. I broke in here, just to see where he did it. He said it was day twenty-two. Twenty-two days of him standing here and thinking about it. Thinking about jumping.
There's a loose board on the ceiling next to me, a corner of paper sticking out from underneath it. I pull out the paper and gasp. It's a drawing of me, a perfect rendition.
"Damn it... why'd you do it?" I ask, covering my mouth, tears dripping from my eyes. A gust of wind ruffles through my hair, picking up the drawing and pulling it from my hands.
"No!" I grab for it, but it's too late. The drawing's gone.
The gust of wind feels like hands in my hair. Like a ghost.
"Izuku? Is that you?" I whisper, wiping away tears. "If you can hear me... I'm sorry. I love you too..."
The world is silent. It's pointless. All pointless. I want the pain to stop, to end.
I pick up my backpack and turn to walk away. I glance back.
The edge looks inviting.
But not today.
It's day one.
Thank you for reading "Gust of Wind" It was very short, I know, but I just wrote it during class one day because I was bored. I hope you liked it! It was a different style of writing than I'm used to but it was a lot of fun.
