A refresher since it's been so long! Here's what happened so far:

Adelaide and Caleb are twins. Twin witches can do power transfers, AKA the thing Chase is trying to do during the whole movie, without aging effects/death. Adelaide wants to combine their ascended powers to try to do a spell to make their dad healthy and young again so they can be a family. Caleb is scared they'll be addicted to The Power that way so he refuses. Chase comes to Spenser Academy and learns that marriage or being twins allow an easy and extremely beneficial power transfer. He's addicted to The Power and decides to marry Adelaide to train her to steal Caleb's power and then she can give Chase that combined power so he can become the most powerful warlock ever seen. But Adelaide doesn't know that...

I kicked and screamed but Chase wouldn't let me go. Chase! What was he doing?

I thought I could trust him.

Dark smoke started to swirl around us. He was teleporting us. But to where? In a flash of fog I found myself in a beautiful, gigantic, castle like living room.

Chase let go of me and I ran from him, using my powers to lift a chair up and put it between him and me. "Don't do a thing," I hissed.

Chase let out an amused laugh. "I'm not gonna hurt you, sweetheart."

"What do you want?"

The gorgeous boy strode up to me. "For you to listen." With a flick of his wrist the chair floated back down. "Ad, I want to help you."

"And how?!" I hissed. "By kidnapping me?!"

"By getting Caleb's powers to save your dad," he said.

I froze. Swallowing nervously, I brushed the hair that got messed up in the fight out of my face. "Wh-what?"

"I train you on your witch skills," he said. "Then you get Caleb's powers, causing no side effects of aging or death, due to you being twins. Then, purely for the Power, we marry. You transfer your already supercharged twin powers to me, once again, with no side effects because of marriage, and I will have the most extreme and greatest power seen in any warlock in history. The power able to save your father and bring your family back together."

I opened my mouth to say something but closed it. My heart hammered. He was being so rational. So calm. But something was wrong. "Why have a sword in your backpocket the other day and then KIDNAP ME?"

Chase chuckled and ran his fingers through his hair. "I see a witch counselor for answers and she wants things in return. I gave her the sword to ask how I could help you. And tricking you was the only way you'd talk to me."

He wasn't wrong. And...this was actually sweet. He wanted to help me. But there were two, huge problems.

"I'll never forcibly take someone's power," I said. "Especially Caleb's. And I'm not getting married at 18. And to you, someone who I'm just kind of friends with!"

"Adelaide, we need to do this."

"Why do you care so much about this?" I scoffed.

"Don't you trust me?"

"With a shit ton of the Power? No! It's addictive!"

Something in his jaw clenched, but he straightened his back and cleared his throat. "I have something that I want," he said slowly. "But I can't tell you right now. All that you need to know is that we will marry. And I'll teach you how to get Caleb's power even if he doesn't want to give it up. Everyone will benefit. Come on, Adelaide, I'm your friend."

Chase walked up to me and I trembled even more. "No," I hissed. "Never. We're not friends. You're a monster."

His eyes flashed with hurt and he stepped away. "Ad," he whispered.

I narrowed my eyes and summoned The Power inside of me to teleport home. But I only felt weaker. And weaker.

"Wh-what..."

Chase put a hand on my shoulder. "This is my mansion," he explained. "And I've charmed it so no one but me can use bigger spells."

I gasped. "How?"

Chase cocked his head. "I may be a powerful warlock," he said, "but from practice, along other things. I've taught myself to be this skilled enough to charm an entire mansion with such a specific spell. Let me guess? Caleb never let you practice magic much? Too protective?"

My eyes pricked with tears. "Maybe."

"I can teach you, Ad," he said. "I can teach you how to be such a great witch. Caleb doesn't see the potential you have."

I just stared at him. How could he be so right and yet so wrong?

Chase turned around and strolled to leave. "I hope you see that this is for the best. We all get what we want in the end with this." He reaches the doorway but stopped when I called out.

"What do you get from this?"

He didn't turn around, only said these words that haunted before he left, "You'll see. But that's for me to know and you to find out, my fiancé..."
