Jinx's P.O.V.

I wasn't quite sure what, exactly, I had been expecting to see, but the warehouse was relatively empty, said a few stray items here and there. As I walked deeper and deeper into the dark dankness, I began finding the evidence that it truly was a home for living humans, but what kind of humans could live that way? One room smelled highly of alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, and sweat, and it made me want to throw up, seeing discarded drug paraphernalia lying about in the cramped space. I walked a bit further, and stopped dead in my tracks, the scent of Ivy hitting me hard. I peered cautiously into the small, prison like room, seeing a homemade bed on the floor, and not much else, save a pile of clothing and her backpack, but still, it was hers, and it drew me in deeper. I felt my heart throb with agony, as I approached the bed, because as soon as I did that, another scent assaulted me, mixing with Ivy's warm one; It was the scent of death, not too powerful, but still, strong enough to make me panic.

A female voice that sounded both aged and young at the same time came from behind me, "She's not here, freak. She was, but we were given a deal..One we just had to accept." I slowly turned, finding myself face to face with a blonde, bone thin woman, the stench of drugs wafting from her, along with a familiar scent. I whispered, "You're a vampire." A man stepped out from the shadows, his eyes bloodshot, and he smirked, before telling me, "Damn right, and it's better than taking any drug in the world. All we had to do to get it was trade off Ivy. No great loss there.." I felt hatred and disgust well up inside of me, and growled, "You're both sick fucks! Trading off your only kid for this shit!" I bared my fangs at them, and their eyes widened a bit, so I guess whoever turned them was in a hurry, and didn't let them know who or what they would be dealing with when I showed up.

I glared at them, and asked, "Where is Ivy, and who took her?" The man's face filled with realisation, and he muttered, "You're Ivy's new bitch, aren't ya? Kid was holding out on us again. Not that it matters much now; She's practically dead already." I felt my heart shatter, and he laughed. "She didn't tell you? Ivy has pancreatic cancer, and has been dying for months..And now, she's only got hours left." The pieces suddenly all clicked together.. The blackouts, the pain, her missing so much school; It was all because she was dying. I swallowed hard, and before he could blink, had her father flat against the wall, my fangs dangerously close to his throat. "I'll only ask one more time..Where is she, and who took her?" He actually seemed terrified of me, which was ironic, considering that if he wanted to, he could fight me to the death, but he was proof that some humans should never be allowed to become one of us. He whispered, "I don't know where they took her, but..It was some kid named Carter, and his friends. Now let me go.." I glanced between him and his wife, and smiled. "Sure.. I'll let you guys go." I dropped him, and before he moved too far away, had found a broken wooden board, and slammed it through his heart, killing him. Instantly, his wife tried to run, but being relatively new to the vampire speed, she was careless, and I caught her.

I slammed my hand into her chest, and tore out her heart, tossing it on the floor. She fell to the floor, dead, and I shook her blood off my hand in disgust. Normally, I didn't resort to that sort of thing, but those two deserved it, and when I caught up to Carter, he'd get the same. I stormed my way outside the warehouse, and knew where I had to go, though treading there after my coven found out about Ivy was like suicide. I didn't care, worried about one thing, and one thing only; I had to protect Ivy from my family, no matter what the cost to do it was. I ran, racing down alleys and back roads, dodging human eyes and ears, until I came to a large factory, which we used as a cover for our coven. I silently slipped inside, closing the door behind me, and came face to face with Carter himself. I snarled, baring my fangs, and he laughed, dodging, as I ran at him. I whirled around, and he shook his head at me. "Careful now, Jinx. Treat me like that, and your little pet won't last much longer..Not that she's got much time left, anyway." My body stiffened, as my ears picked up a faint and weak heartbeat down the hall, where the coven kept their dungeons for traitors and food, and I knew instantly it was Ivy's. I forced myself to calm down, and asked Carter, "What do you want?" He grinned, and replied, "That's more like it..I want you to be mine again, and tell your father that you don't want Ivy anymore..Do that, and she'll live..."

I slowly nodded, white hot anger still pulsing through me, and allowed myself to be taken to my father, who was obviously waiting for me. He said, "Kathryn, I've been expecting you. I've heard some disturbing rumors that you care for the human in our midst, as more than food..Is this true?" His eyes narrowed, and I knew that even though I was his daughter, he'd gladly exterminate me for the protection of the precious fucking coven, given it was his job. I opened my mouth to reply, then froze, as one of the guards dragged Ivy into view. My heart nearly stopped, as I saw her throat. It was a shredded, bleeding mess, and I was surprised she could stand at all, given how pale and exhausted she looked. My father cleared his throat, and I took a deep breath, knowing my next words would probably cause I've to hate me, but if it let her live, I would risk that. "No, they are not true..I would never stoop so low as to love a fragile human, Father. I was merely playing with her feelings, tricking her.." As the words exited my mouth, I instantly wished I could take them back..

Ivy's P.O.V.

I could barely stand, my legs shaking with the strain of holding me up, but the stubbornness inside of me refused to let me break in front of vampires, let alone dicks like Carter and his friends. I glared coldly at who I supposed was Jinx's father, though we'd never really formally met, but my eyes instantly snapped to a familiar face, as those harsh words exited her mouth. At that point, my legs finally did give out, and I fell to my knees, my heart throbbing with almost as much pain as my throat, if not more. I whispered, "I should have known..My own parents traded me for a fucking high, so why not you, too, Jinx? I'm nothing to you, and why should I be? I'm just a weak and fragile little human being, with emotions and a soul, unlike you assholes.." My whole body was shaking, and I doubled over, coughing hard, as my stomach roared with agony. I gritted my teeth, and forced myself to my feet. "Get it over with, then..Eat me, fuckers! It's not like I have a long time to live, anyway.. What's a few hours early?" They all stared at me with the same expression, their eyes filled with disgust and hatred, and Jinx's father said, "You won't die now, human. Why take mercy on you? You put your filthy hands on my daughter, and for that, you'll die slowly and painfully..Take her away."

I was hauled away by the chains binding my wrists and legs, my feet dragging on the floor, and I hit the floor of my cell hard, the breath knocked out of me. The door slammed shut, sealing me inside, and I stayed where I was, curled up into the fetal position, tears silently making their way down my face. A few minutes later, I heard two pairs of footsteps stop outside the door, and then, the door swung open, allowing the owner of one pair of footsteps to enter my cell. I knew who it was, before her familiar voice whispered, "Ivy.." I weakly replied, "Fuck off.." Familiar hands gently helped me to my feet, and set me on the tiny cot in the corner of the room. I didn't look up, staring at the dirt covered floor instead, and her voice begged, "Ivy, please..Please look at me." Even though I knew it would cause my heart further damage, I slowly looked up, my eyes locking with Jinx's. I was confused, as her warm arms wrapped around me, crushing me to her chest, and whispered, "Is this another trick?" Her body stiffened, and she pulled back a bit, shaking her head. She swallowed hard, and told me, "Carter made me say that shit, Ivy..He said he'd kill you if I didn't say it..And I'd rather you hate me, then lose your bloody life for loving me."

I shrugged, and whispered, "I'm dying anyway..I can't stop it, and neither can you, Jinx. I can feel it coming every second, closer and closer, and I'm scared." Pain flickered through her eyes, and she sighed, gently stroking my face with her fingers. "I know, love.. I'm scared, too. I can't lose you, Ivy. If you die, I die, too.. You're my universe.." My heart leapt at that, and I gently pressed my lips against hers, wanting one last time before I died. She hesitated for a minute, then gave in, her mouth urgently giving in to mine, and I wrapped my arms around her neck, pulling her closer. She pulled away after a few minutes to let me breathe, and I closed my eyes, shaking slightly. I whispered, "I love you, Jinx..", and was confused yet again, as she brokenly whispered, "I love you, too, Ivy.. I'm so sorry." Seconds later, I felt her fangs bury themselves in my throat, and then, I felt darkness and cold close in on me..
