And who can say no to a man on his dying bed?

Sneak Peek:

Chapter 1: A Call from the devil.

Julio Bass|

"Jayceon, Carlos is four now he can swim without floaties." I told my husband as he quickly stopped brushing his teeth and replied, "And so what? I dont wanna be one of those parents on the news thats crying they only turned their back for two seconds and now my child is drowned. He will be in floaties til he atleast 8." I laughed and walked into the room and ripped my towel off revealing my big flaccid dick and perfect body. Ive been hitting the gym alot lately after the firm I was working at was closed down. I walked over and grabbed a pair of briefs out of the dresser, as I stepped into them I saw Jayceon come from the bathroom.

"Look I know you want him to be independent but that doesnt have to happen right away. It will come with time. He is still my little baby in my eyes. Keesha agrees and thats final." He told me as I chuckled, "so basically anything you two say trumps my opinion. Got it."

"What? Dont say that like you are less of a parent to Carlos." Jayceon argued.

"Well stop making me feel like one." I argued as he walked over and grabbed my hands and stared up at me.

"Stop it. I know a lot of pressure have been on you about finding another firm and all that" he stopped as he rose his hands to my shoulder and I licked my lips before continuing, "Even at Thanksgiving last week in Georgia with Deejay and Rico you was not yourself. You arent any less of a man, trust me"

"I was fired." I confessed. He squinted his eyes and I asked, "come again."

"I was fired. The firm wasnt closed down. The man whose name was on the building appointed me to be first chair in this high profile case that would make the firm 1 billion dollars or lose 4 1% clients. I thought I could handle it and was, until I figured out these 4 percenters indeed did do the crime and that crime I could never save a man or men from. They was human trafficking little kids from Africa all over the globe. So it was my job or save those nasty fucks. And I chose the sane choice..and thats another reason why its been so hard finding another firm because he burned my name in the law world." I finally confessed as I chuckled, "Oh wow. Oh fucking wow. Why didn't you tell me, huh?"

"I didn't want you to stress about it like you do all my problems. I just have to wrap my head around probably never being a lawyer again." I told him as he rubbed down my chest and then wrapped his arms around me. He laid his head on my chest and exhaled, "Im going to ready Carlos to go with Keesha and then we can have some us time." Just as I leaned down to kiss his lips my phone started ringing. He walked out of our room and I rushed over and saw a name across my phone that I haven't seen in awhile.

"Jamie?" I asked.

"Wow, haven't heard that voice in awhile." My older brother said as I rolled my eyes and replied, "I mean I think I have three brothers whenever they want to acknowledge me. Same goes for that father of ours. I didn't even get my extended Thanksgiving Invite that I decline every year."

"And you wonder why you didn't get one this year. Look I am calling because everyone else said not to and I have a small ounce of love for you. Dad went to the doctor back in May and they found something in his colon. They removed 75% of it and we thought he would get better, but right before Thanksgiving he fell ill again and its nothing left they can do. He doesn't have long."

"Are you kidding me? The one man that has probably been at the hand of over 5 thousand kills dies by cancer."

"He didn't want the doctors checking up his ass so it comes back to bite." Jamie told me as I took a deep breath and exhaled, "so how long does he have?"

"A few hours. The doctors say he wont make it past tonight." Jamie said as I perked up and gasped. My father and I always had an estranged relationship. Like I know he cares for me he has shown me that,  but its been times where he chooses his family over me..which I get. Im the maid's bastard son. I am the youngest with Bass blood. His wife hated me ever since I was born...my short lived visits at the Bass estate has always been tense. My dad would step up for me because I think he knew it was more his fault than it was of mine.

"So if you could hop on a flight within an hour you can see him one last time before he goes." Jamie said as the room door opened and I stated, "Ill be there."
I hung up as Jayceon said, "Keesha says hi. Carlos says he loves you....I cant wait to see pictures from San Diego. And where you are going?"

"Home"

"New York? Why?" Jayceon asked.

"No Jersey. My father is dying. Doctors say he wont see tomorrow morning. Login to the Cartina Airlines account and get us two tickets, nonstop to New Jersey." I told him as he rose his hand to his chest and nodded his head without any comeback. I rushed into the closet to start packing.

New Jersey

"Keesha replied...she says its fine and keep her updated." Jayceon told me as we walked over to the rented RangeRover inside the airport terminal. I have seriously forgot how damn cold it can get on this side of the States. In California its summer all year round. We hopped in and I crunk the car up. I called up Jamie and asked for the hospital.

"Rickters General." He told me.

"Alright, ill be there in about 20." I told him as I exhaled and hung up. I placed my phone into the cup holder and rested my arm on the console. Jayceon grabbed hold of my hand and stated, "You got this." Jayceon saying that was uncanny as fuck because those were the first encouraging words I ever got from my Dad.

Flashback

"My dad lives up in here?" I asked my Mom as the big gates opened and she rode in. She exhaled, "Yup I know its different from the house we live in, but remember what Ive been telling you since you was 4"

"Im 6 now."

"Exactly. So it should be etched into your brain. No amount of money equates to happiness. Love equals happiness. It took this man all these years to finally want to acknowledge that you exist. And as much as I hate his guts and mistake falling in love with him...I will never come between you and your father. I might cant say the same as his family, but trust me when I say—one day this will all be yours. You are the youngest Bass." She told me as I stared over at her and I didn't fully understand what she told me but I knew it was going to mean alot. She pulled up to the house and told me wait in the car. She stepped out and went over to the large door and I stared at the door...it opened as a man walked out and they had a few words that I couldn't make out. She pointed over to the car and he took a deep breath and walked over towards the door. For some odd reason my heartbeat starting racing.

He opened the car door and leaned down and stated, "So you must be Julio."

"Julio Bass." I told him. He smirked as we stared into each other eyes and replied, "Hey you have my name. Im a Bass too."

"So your name is Bass Bass?" I asked him as he laughed and replied, "Not at all little man. Too many I am known as Mister Bass, to my family I am Dad or husband. And I know you probably asking yourself what do you call me being I haven't been a father to you yet—but I got the sense you can keep a secret. My true name is Javon Julio Bass. Hence, why your mother named you Julio. Is my secret safe with you."

"yes, mister bass." I told him with a smirk as he placed his hand on my head and asked, "Are you ready for the greatest summer of your life? Your brothers maybe mean, but you got this. Come on."
