Viridi woke up gasping with an aggressive jolt, gulping desperately with huge breaths for air as she held her hand to her chest. She felt violently sick as she heaved up herself from the bed to run towards the bathroom and catch herself before it was too late.

She had gotten just in time and almost tripped as she sprinted in the direction of the toilet to vomit. She felt disgusted to her core as she hovered over the toilet seat and felt dizzy with the effort of her holding back her vomit. She felt tears prick her eyes at the burning sensation in her throat as she puked all the food she ate from the day before.

Viridi gagged even after she finished, the weight of her sickness unbearable.

She felt the cool breeze of someone rushing by her side, and didn't look up knowing fully well it was Rayana.

"Oh, what are we going to do about this?" Rayana whimpered, holding Viridi's hair up.

"I already finished vomiting," Viridi croaked, cracking a smile.

"You're a bitch you know that?" Rayana huffed and let her hair go with a malicious throw, "How are you gonna work for seven men when I'm not there to take care of you?"

Viridi felt her facade slipping away and she looked down at the bathroom floor.

"I have to help them."

"Help yourself first," Rayana said gently, "You told me the nightmares stopped, Vie. I'm so worried about you I think I might die," she mewled.

"I'm sorry," Viridi cried, "Rayana I'm so so sorry."

"All I've ever done is bring you pain and I don't know why you are staying with me until this day," her face twisted with agony and she covered her face with her arm. Her hearing began to get muffled and she felt the world tightening around her in a claustrophobic box.

She couldn't breathe. She heard voices.

Beeps.

She needed to wake up.

"Viridi, wake up," Rayana snapped. Viridi could barely hear her voice but it sounded like there was a lot of concern in her tone.

"What?" She blinked. The world was twisting and turning around her, and blackness was closing in on her vision.

"Viridi I said wake up!" Rayana's scream pulled her away from the blackness.

"I'm so scared for you," Rayana sobbed and pulled her into a tender hug. Viridi sat motionless, her face blank as Rayana cried into her shoulder.

The moonlight creepd through the somewhat opaque bathroom window. It illuminated their faces eerily. Rayana's heaving cries were there, but Viridi wasn't listening. All she could hear were those damn beeps. Those fucking beeps that wouldn't stop. In her mind she was snarling, resisting. But right then and there, on those icy white tiles, she was frozen. The only warmth she was feeling was from the heat radiating off of Rayana's body.

They were both sprawled on the same bathroom floor.

Both in the same embrace.

Feeling the same freezing cold of the winter.

But they were in entirely different worlds.

Rayana?

I'm here.

I miss you.
