Billy:
-Mom, please, would you stop arguing! I won’t tell you where I was ok?-
-Billy, I’m tired of your lies. Every day since you got into that college you stopped trusting me! Why? - Mom said with a cry. I was in the back seat so she wasn’t paying attention to the road.
- You should stop caring about me and pay some attention to the road mom. It’s far way more interesting-. I said sarcastically. Mom then turned her head to me when she was about to say something I saw a white light, which I proceeded to yell at her to look out. Right before we crash I woke up. I was sweaty and trembling and crying. A nightmare, just a nightmare. It’s been like this for the past year since our accident. Breathing heavily watching my mom’s picture I burst into tears and cursing. Hating life, hating people and hating myself. Suddenly I hear the phone ring, my heart stopped for a second. I don’t know why. I reached the phone and answered but it seem like there wasn’t anyone. When I was about to hang up an old lady’s voice came in.
-Rosario? Is that you?
- Yes dear. Sorry to be bothering you at this hour, but I need some help here in the library I just got here and I haven’t seen Tommy.
-Tommy isn’t there? Weird… And what are you doing there at that time too?
-Oh Ana called and said she wouldn’t be able to come early. Something about her granddaughter, it’s a shame.
-Sure. I’ll go-. I hang up without letting Rosario confirm and went to get a shower. I got dressed and walked to the kitchen to grab something to eat and turned the T.V. While pouring me a glass of water I saw on the news the picture of Joseline Parker with the capital letter under the picture they were showing “MISSING”. People have been talking about it lately; and I don’t like it. I turned the T.V. off grabbed my backpack and went directly out to the car. My house isn’t that big since I live alone. My uncle was nice enough to rent me this place. It has just one room with the bathroom in it. A small kitchen with a rotten smell that intoxicates the whole apartment. And a living room with just one furniture. I live 10 minutes from college so it didn’t take long to get there. On my way there I see Marcus walking from the bus station. He’s tall with Indian skin, and long hair. He was talking to himself for some reason I didn’t wanted to know. –Pathetic- I said with a sarcastic laugh. I got to the campus and it was pitch black. Never saw it like this before. It was weird. I parked the rusty small car and started walking to the main entrance.
Disturbed by the weird noises I heard I started to walk faster. But I got tired since I can’t walk as easily as I used to because of the accident a year ago. There’s a path you can take in the woods or just take the long way on campus. It won’t matter both ways are creepy enough to scare me. I took the elevator to get to the third floor which leads to the library. The elevator is really old and normally stops functioning. There’s a swamp near the campus that creates a dense mist in the mornings throughout all of campus. The hallways weren’t indoors so it let in the mist perfectly. I got in the elevator and pushed the number 3. After I did I noticed I had blood on my finger. –What the hell is this shit? - I smelled my finger and recognized fast that it was blood. Its metallic smell went through my throat. Disgusted I looked again at the panel where all of the numbers where. And see blood hand prints in all over the place. Not from a long time. Blinded by the horror I just encountered I jumped scared when I hear my phone ring. It’s Tommy. I let it ring for a while and then pick it up.
-Hello?
-Billy? Are you there? I need you… basement… I… do you hear me?
-There’s no signal in the elevator, I can’t hear you. Tommy?!- As I was trying to get some signal I see the elevator stops at the second floor. I slowly take away the phone from my ears and try to take a clear look at the hallway. I felt blind; full of mist I could barely see anything. Then suddenly it clears in the middle and I see something. And it’s approaching me! Still without seeing quite well who it is or what it is. I could hear the sound of the boots it was wearing. My sight became clearly to see that it was a person indeed. Running towards me, and holding something in his hand. I say “his “but I’m not sure if is a woman or a man.
-Who are you?!- I yell. –What do you want from me?!- I let a cry out, but it doesn’t stop running. So I pushed the closing button on the elevator. As it was closing I could see from detail it was a man. He was a few inches from me and I let a cry of help.
-Fuck stop!!! Damn door close already! -On time the door closed but I could hear him hitting the door. –Fuck, fuck, fuck…. Is he gone? I thought to myself. The elevator hasn’t come up to the third floor yet. And I could see I mistakenly pushed the second button instead of the third. So I went and pushed the number three, my hands were shaking like never before. I got to the third floor and waited a couple of seconds to see if I see that psychopath again. But nothing, the mist was still dense but nothing abnormal. I went to the library and see Tommy in front of the entrance.
-Billy! My god you’re ok! - He was shaking too.
-What happened Tommy? Its everything ok? - He looks at me with a straight cold look. I look down to him and notice he had large boots covered in blood. My mind goes nuts when I see this and get all confused.
-Why are your boots covered in blood? - He doesn’t answer. Instead he changes the subject and tells me that what I’m about to see it’s graphically strong. When I go in I see a girl’s body without her head and let a scream out.
-What is this??! My god. Are you out of your mind! Why would you show me this! - I go backwards to get some balance in the wall but couldn’t find it and end up tripping with the girl's head.
-Ahh! - I pushed the girl’s head a few feets away.
-Hey, hey, calm down! - Tommy said. -I found her like this.
-Wait you’re alone here? Where’s Rosario??
-She’s not here. Was she supposed to be here? –
What was happening? I just touched a girl’s decapitated head. A guy tried to kill me, I’m not sure if it was Tommy. And Rosario who was the one that called me to come here on the first place it’s not here yet. Something is fucking wrong in this place. And I now am part of it.
