After we exited Diglett's Cave, Green informed us she had to go retrieve an item and would be back soon. Ethan and I decided to practice battling each other as a way for me to warm up for future battles. I brought out Bayleef and Ethan brought out Typhlosion. We called out some moves for our Pokémon to attack the other, and for a few minutes, it was just a practice battle.

But I continued to call out moves as if this wasn't a practice battle, with this feeling in my body that pushed me to have fun with this battle. It seemed as if Bayleef felt that feeling as well. She ran, whipping her head to shoot leaves from that single leaf on her head, with a smile on her face. Then Ethan and Typhlosion reciprocated with us.

In the corner of my left eye, Exchanger sat on the grass with his back against the tree. His hood covered his eyes, but his head was tilted down so I assumed he was asleep. Green was taking her time, so it should be alright for him to take a quick nap.

Eventually, I noticed Green approaching us with her eyes down to her wrist. I raised a hand to signal for Ethan to stop. Bayleef leaped back and Typhlosion took a step back before Ethan called it back in its Pokéball. I ran to Bayleef to give her a quick hug before looking up to Green who stood beside Ethan.

"Ethan, wake up Exchanger. Blue told me he's settling with the kid back at the lab. We're going to fly there, so bring out your Dragonite and fly with Lyra. I'll take out Pidgeot and Exchanger can use Honchkrow," Green informed him. As Ethan rushed towards Exchanger, Green motioned me to stand up and come to her. I did just that with Bayleef right behind me.

"Return Bayleef to its ball. We're heading to Pallet Town. Do you remember Blue? He's waiting for us at the lab. You're going to fly with Ethan, so try not to fall," she advised me.

I turned to Bayleef who silently nods her head. She probably understood Green's words. When I took out the Pokéball from my bag and aimed at her, Bayleef let out a soft cry with a smile. I took a quick breath before returning her inside her Pokéball.

When I turned to glance at Ethan and Exchanger, I noticed Exchanger hopping onto a dark blue Pokémon's back. It flapped its wings, hopped off the ground and began to fly higher off the ground. Exchanger held onto his hood with one hand, as the Pokémon flew faster in the air. Afterwards, Ethan ran towards us, grabbing a Pokéball from his bag.

"Lyra! We're going to use my Dragonite again to fly us to Pallet Town. You've already met him, so don't worry about falling," he exclaimed, tossing his Pokéball in the air and bringing out the large, light orange Pokémon.

"Alright, I'll be sure to hold on tight," I replied to Ethan, holding Dragonite's back with a tight grip before leaping onto it. As Ethan got on behind me, I turned to Green who had her Pidgeot out, whose wings were already starting to flap.

"I'll meet you guys there. I've got to keep an eye on Exchanger," she yelled in the air.

"We should get going," Ethan reminded me, to which I nodded my head. As Ethan got Dragonite to fly in the air as well, I looked back at Vermilion City. As I was observing the city, my eyes were drawn to someone staring at us.

It was a boy, and it felt as if I had seen him before. He didn't seem like the typical trainer you'd see travelling around. The boy had short turquoise hair and matching eyes, but where had I seen him before... was it Cianwood City? Wasn't he the trainer that wanted to challenge Chuck but couldn't? The trainer I saw three years ago didn't have the same hair if I remembered correctly, but his eyes... they held the same emotion as before. Ethan and I were high in the air, but we were also close to the buildings which were enough for me to notice the boy's eyes.
