Your POV

The opening notes to "I ain't got time" blasted through the speakers in the arena.

I was at the Anthem in DC, front row at the best modern rapper's concert...Tyler, the motherfucking creator.

"I BEEN KISSING WHITE BOYS SINCE 2004" I yelled all the lyrics back as the passionate fan I am.

My goal was definitely to lose my voice by the end of the show and currently I was on the right track.

He jumped around the stage, dancing as he moved from one side to the other.

Once the song was over, Jamba started to play and then Who Dat Boy and then Fish. Essentially just randomly going through all his albums, it felt like I had him on shuffle.

Midway through Boredom, He started taking notice of me.

Not gonna lie, I was sweating in my GOLF hoodie from the way he was looking at me, I was praying he'd look at another fan or at least do something rather than continue to stare at me while he rapped.

"Hold on guys, I'll be back" He walked off the stage probably to talk to the stage crew or something.

He was gone for what felt like forever before he came back out with another microphone.

"I've seen a certain fan rapping my lyrics back and forth, no hesitation not even to think of the next lyric and I wanna put them to the test" He was looking right at me and I did not like it.

It's not like i'm scared because I would definitely get up there but if there was someone in this crowd that was a fan of me too then it'd blow my cover.

He came up to where I was, his pant leg being tugged at and grabbed by the fans as he held his hand out for me.

I hesitantly grabbed it, helping myself as he pulled me onto the stage.

He dapped me up with a short snap at the end and then finally he passed me the mic.

"So I seen you was like rapping my shit ? You fuck with me that hard ?" He spoke into the mic, his shallow breathing coming through between every word.

"My mans of course, your shit go hard do you not know that ?"

"I mean I don't know, I'm not the type to have my head so far up my fucking anus that I don't see the world as it is"

"True shit" I stood awkwardly as I waited for what was to come next.

In moments like this I felt like summer walker, I hated being in a situation where I feel the conversation dying or i'm not on the same energy level as the other person or I simply don't know what to say.

"But I do know that I'd fuck myself, like do you know how cute I am. You wish you looked as good as me" The fans and I laughed.

"Aight, you prolly wondering why I called you up here. I seen you rapping my shit hard like you know my lyrics so you wanna help me out with my last two songs ?"

I nodded quickly, this was definitely one of my biggest dreams.

"That's tight, I appreciate it" He flashed a smile at me.

The slow intro to where a flower blooms started playing.

A few people in the audience had confused faces, I could tell straight away they were Igor stans but I was about to show them how much of a bop they were missing out on.

"Rent-A-Center calling everyday" He started off.

"Nobody home they knocking on the door" I finished.

I could tell this was going to be a good show.

By the time the show was over I had glitter all over me because Tyler thought it'd be funny to release glitter from the ceiling at the end of "Glitter".

I sat at the edge of the stage with my water bottle, watching as the last fan left the arena.

I had definitely tired myself out jumping around the stage with Tyler, He's definitely an energetic person on stage, maybe one of the most energetic ones I've ever met.

"It's crazy isn't it ?" I heard from behind me.

I turned around to see Tyler walking up to me with a towel. He settled down next to me, handing me the small cloth. I nodded in appreciation.

"Yeah, it definitely is" I smiled faintly as I looked around the big room. It was a little over a 5K capacity so there were definitely a lot of people here.

"You know it took me a long time to get here, people really didn't fuck with my music because it was too hardcore for them. I got cancelled because I was homophobic, probably should've come out before I started." It was dead silent before we both erupted in laughter.

I made the mistake of looking at him and started laughing even harder, by now there were tears in my eyes from how hard I was laughing.

Once our laughter died down it was quiet again, it was just us in the huge space that at the same time felt so small. It's crazy how such a big space can be so small at the same time.

"You probably thought I didn't know you when I pulled you on stage but I did, I knew you as soon as you walked through the door. I wanted to test you, most artists would've introduced themselves when they got on stage and used me for attention but you didn't even do anything, you acted like a regular fan and jammed out with me. You still have a heart, you still have something in you that humbles you day by day and I need you to promise me that you will always have that. Most people forget who they are and become complete assholes behind the scenes so promise me that won't be you."

I could tell from his face that he was dead serious about this and I wasn't playing either.

I know exactly the industry can change people, thankfully i'm around the type of people who won't switch up but sometimes you never know. I've known Billie for practically 17 years and I've known Brian for 4, they haven't acted a different way from the time I met them to the time they blew up and I hoped it stayed that way.

As for me, I don't plan on changing but then again who does ? I don't have as much money as most of these other artist but i'm making a promise to myself and Tyler that when I do, I'm never gonna switch up or act different.

"I promise, and that's on my life."

He looked at me, trying to see if what I was saying was genuine. I guess he thought it was enough so he just sighed and nodded.

He hopped off the stage and dusted off his pants before holding a hand out for me, I grabbed it and followed suit next to him.

"So...you from round here ?" He asked as we walked out.

"Yeah actually, I use to live in southeast" He nodded again, he didn't make a sour face or judge me, He just nodded.

"Let's go get something to eat" He held the door open for me as we walked over to our cars.

"Y'all got popeyes ?" He asked with a hopeful grin.

"You already know, fool" I returned the grin, already having the best idea in my head.

Before he could even say his next sentence I turned around, running as fast as I could to my car.

"Last one there has to by the winner food" I yelled to him as I neared my car.

"Nigga that ain't even fair" I heard him yell after me.

Today was definitely a good day.
