"H-h-ow-w?" I stutter.

The face continues to hauntingly stare into my soul.

"J-J-Jim? Is that you?" I whimper.

He doesn't respond.

"Alaska, stay back, he might be just an image to disorient you," Evelina sighs. I turn back to her.

"How do you know that?" The familiar deep voice sounded behind me.

"I just guessed! Never said it was true!" Evelina snapped. That's unusual.

"Why so sassy, Ms. Goody-two-shoes? One second you were all preppy and happy with Ms. Courageous here, the next, you look as if you're about to kill me with your creepy laser bug eyes. What is it with you anyways?"

It's no secret that Jim and Evelina aren't the best of friends, but does the stupid argument have to start now?

I look at Jim's crinkly eyes and see that he is stealing glances from me every few seconds or so. It's just such a thing that Jim would do that I knew it couldn't be a projection.

"Oh you little babies, stop whining and focus on the task on hand! Jim is still on the outside border of this stupid ring and I'm pretty sure he will not be tempted to come inside. I SAID STOP IT YOU TWO! I swear I will blast you with my supernatural powers if I could shut you both up just for a minute," I came out of my daze and snapped.

At that comment, two pairs of puppy dog eyes instantly swivel to me. Scared and frightened puppy dog eyes. Gotcha.

I smirk. "Now you two, what are we going to do to get the heck out of here?"

*~*

Since the bloody fire wall was still separating us from Jim, Evelina and I decided to get the heck out instead of the arrogant pig charging inside and ruining the perfect plan of ours ( Really , it was me who came up with the whole poopy plan. The other two immatures were just playing a game of Call of Duty with their eyeballs when I wasn't glaring at them.)

The great plan was for me to construct a staircase of icicles (Yay me, not.) in order for Evelina to hop over and continue the muderous promises of stabbing Jim. For me to get through, however, will be the hard part. The icicles will be melted by the time Evelina walks through, And I'll have to build another staircase to hop through. The thing is, my powers have a limit. If I continue to to overuse my powers, I would drop like a rag doll and faint. Wow, that will be fun.

If anything bad happens, Jim will bring Evelina back to safety. Even if I would be lost in he process. I reassure myself as I kneel on the ground. He promised a long time ago, in a different world.  At that, I stood up and faced Evelina.

"So? What are we waiting for?"

I turn and start blasting my icy powers. The icicles are already forming quite nicely. Hmmm...

*~*

After a whole twenty minutes, I finally finished my work. My energy drains as I stare up at the art that is of my creation. Dizziness starts to leak in. No.

I pull myself together and I accidentally made eye contact with Jim from the other side. Cold brown coffee suddenly melts to warm honey when I stared at him. He smiles a little, lighting up. He looks content. Content and excited. Excited to get away from me and this life, I'm sure. My stomach twists as I recall the conversation I had with him.

*~*

"Hey idiot, since you want oh-so-desperately to escape this horrible life of ours, what do you want to do after we full fill our duties?" I asked lightly, curious of his answer.
