Terrified hazel eyes.I see terrified hazel eyes.
Jim's eyes.
"Alaska, run. Run for your life, for Evelina's." he says worriedly, darting his eyes around.
I see a pale silver, blue outline from a distance.
"Alaska, now!"
The figures are coming closer, and I realize the creatures are Wanderers--lost ghosts of people who died in Beyond the Boundaries. As they die, they're reborn as spirits, spirits that kill to reproduce more of the terrifying Wanderers. I see their faces--or rather the ruins of what used to be their faces--haunted eyes spilling over their sockets, their sickening and sallow skin, twisted and crooked nose and teeth that could tear you apart--and they can. Easily.
Wanderers are also famously known for their techniques of killing. First, immobilizing their victims before they viciously bite into them to tranquilize the poor people. After, Wanderers will feed on the feast they managed to gather. That is how they eat, and I'm their next victim.
I try to form words, but my lips are numb and still as a statue. My words get caught in my throat as I try to speak, making a strangled sound that I didn't know was possible for a human to make.
"Alaska!"
I see forms closing in on the distance. The scent of incense and deceased bodies hit my poor, sensitive nose. Jim quickly sprints forward to pick me up.
"No!"I tried to scream in protest.
I close my eyes, with only a pleading prayer in my mind.
Please let Jim be safe. Please.
Jim.
Jim.
Jim.

I wake up to a horrifying scream, unfamiliar, yet it chilled me to the bones. I realize that I'm the one who's screaming. It was me. Unimaginably gruesome visions flash behind my groggy eyelids.
Taking a few much needed deep breaths, The on-screen images finally came to a stop. Grateful that the nightmare was all surreal, I finally open my tired-out eyes to be met with a blinding pale silver, blue glow. Wanderers.
No.
No.
No.
Terrified that my most horrific dream (or should I say nightmare) is actually coming true, I jump up like a skittish squirrel and try as hard as I can to run away from the ghoulish creatures. Key word being 'try.'
Oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no.
They've got me immobilized.
I try harder to run, to escape, but no luck.
C'mon Alaska, you can do this.
Sweatbeads dot their way around my forehead like a flower crown, dripping down to my eyebrows as well.
I concentrate harder.
Oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no.
Frustrated, I try one more time out of pure desperation.
C'mon, Alaska! Do this for Evelina!
Wanderers are coming closer.
At least Jim isn't here with me, I think weakly.
On the verge of giving up, I feel a movement from my calve muscles. Just the tiniest movement, yet it was absolutely extraordinary. Even though it was a painfully small movement, it was something.
Yes!
Still celebrating over my single moment of victory, I keep trying to move faster. Even though I am moving, the wanderers are still gaining ground on me. They come, rapidly increasing in both size and speed.
My movements are faster, but not fast enough.
An odor hits my nose, one that smells of rotten eggs and rust.
Oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no oh no.
They are coming closer.
I feel myself suffocating.
Evelina.
I concentrate harder. But this time, I'm withdrawing my powers from the deepest and darkest parts of my soul, aiming my palms to the evil creatures with a loud, desperate scream.
A scream of rage, I realize. Madness at this whole thing, bitterness at Wanderers, and fury towards the Master.
Although my first few attempts of running were a complete failure, this time, my cold powers were successful in knocking my enemies down. At first, a few weak beams trail out of my palms, then they speed up. Rays of icy blue spread rapidly, shooting from figure to figure.
Hmmmmm... Thank you very much, icicles. Never knew you would save my life one day, I think sarcastically.
I hear a wail. Then a second. Then a third. Soon, more screams of agony join in and fill my ringing ears. The horrible sounds were so high-pitched, almost too high to possibly conceive.
I cover my ears, tucking myself into small ball to block out the agonized wails.
It is understandable to scream like that when you are dying though.
I realized, I have set the poor souls free from their misery. Now it's time for them to experience another adventure, this time, on their own. Good luck to them.
Now, I will also set off to another journey of my own. However, it is not for a selfish reason, but to save an innocent soul from purging forever into the unimaginable dark and evil of our world.

Hey bookworm-lios! I hope y'all had fun :)
Sorry for the extraordinarily short chapter.
The summer is coming to a close (at least for where I'm from) and I'm just soaking in all the chocolate and ice cream that came along with viewing the great and beautiful Netflix *giving a well needed moment to praise*
Am I the only one who gets chills just from re-reading the words that I've written? Probably, because I'm weird like that.
Tune in next week to read the next chapter!
