A short guide

In this world everyone is born with a unique tattoo. Well to be fair, almost unique. There's only one other person in this world who has the same tattoo as you. This tattoo is called a soulmark. As you probably could have guessed is the other person who owns this soulmark your soulmate.

The soulmark forms when the soul searches for a lonely soul which can complete your own. If there isn't one your soul waits. If your soulmate dies there is the possibility that you get a second chance mate, but it's rare enough, because most of the time the soul is to damaged to look out for another soul.

Normally people want to meet their soulmate, but no one is forced to do so.

There are some dating platforms, but the countries have made a huge online portal where you have upload a picture of your soulmark and your name. You can choose to upload as many more things as you want.

You need to do this in the age between 16 and 22.

If you don't have any phones or computers which you can use the country needs to make sure that there is an official device near you.

The program is constantly checking if there is a match for you, and if there is you will get informed, but they can't share any information about you (your name included) if you don't allow it. So it is possible that the only message you'll ever get is that you have a match.

You can marry people who aren't your soulmate, but you can never have a non-platonic relationship. You can have sex and all, but it will just feel kinda weird.

People who are aromantic don't have a soulmate because their soul feels complete on its own. People who are asexual but not aromantic have a soulmate, because it is mainly a romantic construct and not a sexual one. But their partner probably doesn't want to do the dirty stuff either because soulmates are trying to be perfect for each other.

But even if soulmates are supposed to be perfect for each other, they are still humans, so they make mistakes. They can hurt each other, get into fights and break up.

Since most of the time the soul form the bond in the first couple of months, so when they meet each other they might not even be the best option for each other, even if they had the highest chance to be it.
