"So we'll see you on Saturday for dinner then?" The voice of my best friend Jenn came into my office on speakerphone. Rubbing my forehead I looked at the mountain of paperwork that sat on my desk and tried my best to convince her that I would be there - although it was very doubtful at this point in time.

"I'll be there Jenn, I might be a bit late but I'll be there." I stood up to file some of the paper mountain away in its rightful place.

"You need to be here Rose," she whined like a child down the line, "It's Christmas and we've had this break planned for ages! The whole gang back together again."

"I know sweetheart, I know. I will be there. I'll most likely be a bit late to dinner that's all."

She sighed, admitting defeat and accepting my answer. "Ok then sweetie. Just don't work too late at that bloody office. It'll be the death of you you know."

"No, Jenn. I think it's more likely the skiing that'll kill me." I said, laughing nervously.

"Oh, we'll all be in the same boat. Oh, did I tell you Emma split up with her boyfriend?"

"No." I gasped. "Oh my gosh, is she ok?" I liked Emma and was looking forward to spending time with her and Jenn over the holidays. Her boyfriend, however, was another story. He was a sleeze and no where near good enough for her.

"Yeah, she's fine. She's looking forward to the trip even more now." She laughed. "I think she said she's bringing her brother instead, fill the space. He's like you - his life revolves around work so he's needing the break too, apparently."

"You mean someone new is coming into our little group? Voluntarily?" I laughed as I spoke, knowing that to the outside world, we could appear a little odd.

"Oh, it's her brother, he knows how crazy she is. Anyway hun, I better go. Remember, dinner tomorrow, 8pm. You better be there bitch!" I laughed as she shouted at me down the phone.

"I'll try!" I told her.

"No trying. It's promises we're after. It's Christmas, Rose. Have a break!" And before I could respond she hung up, the single monotone beep resonating round the empty office.

We'd all booked a skiing trip up in Scotland for Christmas. The whole 'gang' getting back together for the first time in years. There was Me, Jenn and Emma - we've been friends since college - along with Jenn's boyfriend Adam and a few other friends from home, about 8 of us in total. We'd booked a cabin in the Cairngorms and were staying up there until the New Year. And now, Emma's brother was joining us - 'fresh meat' Jenn had called him. What she calls anyone who's new to our group.

Just a short little intro chapter. This story will probably not make it to double figures in chapters, it's only intended to be a short one.

Hope you'll enjoy it!

Big love
