It's Raining Zombie Guts

Silence.

Even the word meant for no speaking, no sounds was enough to remind the group of the once curious little creature that had once traveled with them bearing the same name. It was eerie to sit there and try to think without someone asking for food or poking his nose around.

"What're we going to do?" Tyler asked at last as he sat on his mattress, his knees drawn to his chest as he stared at the concrete floor before lifting his eyes to look at Kitty and Jared, who didn't say anything at first. Jared just laid on his side on the mattress he had shared with Silence, staring at the floor. He hadn't been completely useless. He was thinking, but it was difficult. Kitty sat behind him on the mattress, stroking his arm reassuringly before she looked up with a frown.

Tyler was still watching her. Now Megik was from his place on the bar stool where Nero was silently preparing a meal that probably no one was in the mood to eat. Jericho was silent, his blind eyes staring off into space as he tilted his head and leaned back on his hands. Z leaned on a nearby post, arms folded over his chest in a badass pose that suited him well. Kit sat on a couple crates, his knees drawn together as he avoided eye contact with anyone.

Kitty frowned before taking a deep breath and getting to her feet, folding her arms over her chest.

"Okay, we can't just sit here quietly. We need to think of something. Anything. Silence is waiting over there for us. It's been a day. Who knows what they've done to him by now?" She demanded, making a couple people cringe, including Jared. Kitty averted her eyes, not about to apologize for the truth.

"Well, breaking in won't work," Kit said at last, making people glance at him as he hopped off the crates, putting a hand on his hip, "The place is guarded hardcore. It's a research facility, so of course the security is tight. We need to find a way to get in and out first without getting caught or causing a huge mess."

"Let's just all turn invisible then." Z answered sarcastically. Kit scowled and Megik looked up with a frown, pushing off the counter to step forward.

"Wait. This is New York City. Let's not be stupid. The sewers are the perfect way to get around places without being seen." He stated. Kitty blinked and dropped her arms to her sides in surprise as Kit perked up.

"Exactly! The sewers connect to everywhere, especially a research facility where they dump the waste of their experiments. If we can figure out which tunnel leads under the facility, we have our way in and out." Kit concluded, making Kitty nod slowly.

"We just need to investigate it first. Rushing in will get us killed, and who knows? They may have it blocked off. The zombies can get into just about anywhere. So we'll send Kit, Z, and Megik into the sewers to find the tunnel. We still have walkies around here somewhere and we can keep in touch, but don't change the frequency. We just managed to find one that works." Kitty explained as she walked past everyone to the furthest pile of crates.

"Me? Why do I have to go?" Kit exclaimed, already feeling the irritation grow at being trapped under ground with Z, who rolled his eyes and glanced at the younger man.

"Because it was your idea, brat. Don't be a pussy and suit up. The faster we get this done, the faster we can get out." Z retorted in irritation as he went to the pile of clothes by the mattress he shared with Jericho.

He also wasn't thrilled about this. He didn't like being in dark places much anymore after getting out of prison. He admitted to loving the fresh air, and would love even more for some sunshine. He also didn't like the idea of traveling with Megik, the oversized peacemaker, and Kit, the snotty little brat. He was tempted to put the kid in his place, but he'd seen the relationship between Kit and Nero. The other man would have at him if any harm came to the brat, and that only pissed Z off even more.
