Ch.5: Let The Investigation Begin!

"Do you remember me?"

It is almost midnight. Boss and i have been working for hours non-stop. We are forming different teams to spread across Japan to investigate the source of the scream. Each team will have: one hero (of the remaining ones), three or four sidekicks, two of our agents, one healer. There will be seven teams. We are still thinking if the students that do work-studies with the heroes we have chosen should join the investigation. Yeah sure, they should come so you would get to speak to Shoto more about your late question for him... "Oh shut up, stupid consciousness," i mutter to myself, and boss eventually hears me.
"Next time you want to scold yourself, do it silently Agent 23," he says a smirk on his face.
"Yeah whatever you say Boss," i reply him this time a smirk is on my face. He hates when i strike a nerve.
"You are growing up faster than i had expected, (y/n)," he states calmness in his voice.
"And you are turning into a big cuddly soft teddy bear," bam good work (y/n) i think to myself while mentally brushing my shoulder.
"Don't let it get to your head," he remarks before closing the last file he was preparing.
I look at him and ask him, "What are you going to do with the interns?"
"I chose only Shiketsu's high and UA's students. They have the best training and the right experience to join our investigation, especially those incredible heroes in training at UA," he says emphasizing one the last part.
"And here i thought you were against the government's plans for them," i say anger rising inside me.
"I am and will always be. This is our chance to prove their plans wrong," he says staying neutral.
"By putting the students on the front lines?!" i ask him my tone gradually rising with each word. "We both know they are not ready!!! The scream killed people. KILLED. And you want to send 15 and 16-year-old students to investigate a person who murders with cold blood? I did not sign up for this shit." I say slamming my fist in the wall of his precious office. I make my way to the door; i am not tolerating his plans... It is just so full of bul... "You asked him, didn't you?" that stops me in my tracks. "So you asked him,"
"I didn't say that," i tell him clenching my fists at my sides.
"Your reaction says it all," he sighs.
"I am leaving now Boss, don't expect to come back anytime soon," i tell him and slam the door behind me.
~time skip~
I arrive back to UA campus around five in the morning. And yes, i did walk from HQ back here to get myself distracted. I could not help but notice that there were few to no villains on the streets tonight. That is weird... Maybe the scream scared them away... Whom am i kidding? HE probably got to them first.
"Good morning (y/n)" Iida welcomes me the second i walk in.
"Why are you up so early Iida? It's a Saturday," i ask him without greeting him,
"I shall not burn daylight and..." he starts to justify himself but i cut him off saying "Whatever, forget i asked," i walk past him and head to my room.
"(y/n) wait! What is wrong? You do not look too well and you spent all night out. Is everything okay?" Momo asks me concerned about my well-being.
"I'm fine Momo, just a bit tired from my work study. That's all," i tell her with a faint smile on my face.
"Don't lie to me," she insists. I start to feel weaker; maybe i should not have only lived on coffee for the past three mornings nor have exhausted myself by walking back here... Why am i this stupid again? I think to myself starting to feel a tiny bit, let me rephrase that, a lot tired and dizzy.
"I told you i'm fine Yaoyorozu," i tell her my tone a bit higher and harsher than i expected.
"(y/n) there is no need to get all worked up, Yaoyorozu is just worried," Todoroki states.
I turn quickly over to them and that is when my vision turns blurry then black. My head hits a floor and i hear distant shouting "(Y/N)!!!!!!".
Momo's POV
"Whatever, forget i asked," (y/n) says to Iida before walking past him. Her voice sounds tired and her eyes hold anger and ... Fear? There is definitely something wrong and it is bothering her. She is not the mean type and i know it. "(y/n) wait! What is wrong? You do not look too well and you spent all night out. Is everything okay?" I ask concerned about her. When she answers me that she is feeling tired due to her work-study, i knew she was lying. I try to push her to tell me but I am wrong to do that. She gets angry and Todoroki tries to calm her down. That only makes it worse. I see my friend dropping to the floor unconscious; i cannot hold back my scream "(Y/N)!!!!!!" I cry out to her and tears start to fall down my face. I clasp my hand to my mouth unable to move.
"What's wrong? We heard a scream," Midoriya bolts inside the common area and freezes when he sees (y/n)'s unconscious body. Everyone else runs inside the room one by one and of their reactions are the same. Shocked. Todoroki runs to (y/n) and picks her up bridal style.
"I am going to take her to Recovery Girl," he informs us walking towards the door, "Iida inform Mr. Aizawa what happened here." With that said, Todoroki leaves the dormitory with (y/n) in his arms.
"What happened?" Ashido asks waiting for an answer.
"Iida, i am going to change and accompany Todoroki to the nurse's office." I say to the class rep that is now explaining what had happened earlier.
Todoroki's POV
I have (y/n) in my arms and i am taking her to the nurse's office. She is, surprisingly, light. Yesterday, in her hero costume she looked muscular. I think she rivals Bakugou's physical strength. I look down at her and i feel her shiver. "Please go away," she whispers. I arrive at the nurse's office.
"Please help her," i plead her the moment i get in.
"Oh, my. What happened to her?" she asks ushering me towards a bed in the nursery. I brief her on the events earlier.
"Has she been eating properly?" she asks me.
"I am afraid i don't know," i answer her.
"She has a fever and is apparently drifting between our world and the soul world. I need you to go get Midnight young man and the go get Aizawa as well. We need their help if we want her to come back to us," she orders me. I hesitate at first, the soul world, i heard of it somewhere.
"What are you waiting for?" she urges me outside and closes the door behind me. I hear her say, "You have done it again Guardian, haven't you?"
I run towards the teachers' dormitory and brief Midnight on what happened. The color drains from her face and she runs towards the school's building. Then i go back to our dormitory and meet Mr. Aizawa half way there and he orders me to go back to the dorms.
Once i get there, Momo runs to me and asks me what Recovery Girl said about (y/n). I tell her exactly what she told me and she looks confused.
"That is dangerous," Tokoyami states.
We turn to look at him, confused. "What do you mean Tokoyami?" Iida asks him, pushing him to explain what is wrong with our classmate.
"The soul world is where the holders of the earth's soul, the light and the dark's power go to while meditating or when they die. (Y/n) was not meditating when she faded out of consciousness. Moreover, from what Iida told us, she most likely entered the soul world due to stress. I am surprised she can even enter it. It takes decades for masters of spiritual arts to enter the soul world. Most of them fail at it. (Y/n) must be seriously powerful. She holds the earth's soul and she has both the power of light and dark within her." Everyone is standing mouth agape with surprise, the gears in their heads are turning trying to process the new information.
"I never realized that she is this powerful," Momo says snapping us out of our trance.
"Is she going to be okay?" Kirishima asks Tokoyami.
"I don't think i know the answer to your question Kirishima," Tokoyami says staying neutral.
