Balancing three boxes and two bags while pressing floor 5 in the elevator with your foot should be listed as a super power. I exhale deeply, exhausted from the constant back in forth from my car to my room.
"I hate moving" I grumble out as the elevator comes to a slow halt. Ding.
I walk quickly to my door and struggle to turn the knob smushing my cheek into one of the boxes in the process."Yeah that knob has DEFINITELY got to go" putting the boxes down by the door. I place the two Home Depot bags on top and pull out two long black steel screws. Standing in between the door frame and the door, I start unscrewing one side of the dead bolt in the door frame.
Just in case someone tries to kick my door in,
I hear a door unlock down the hallway and I peek around to see who's leaving their apartment. Shawn.
We've already "officially" met, I've been avoiding him like the plague though.*flashback*
"Hey 502!!"
Turning my head to the left, I'm faced with a bright smile and an amazing human specimen, Aw no I whine to myself.
I clear my throat "Hello"
"That's it? Just hello?" He complained with a lopsided grin
"Aw c'mon don't be so dry 502, we're gonna be floor buddies after all" he teased. I squinted my eyes at him and turned my body towards his.
"Are you expecting me to induce myself?"Folding my arms and raising my eyebrow followed my question. I soon realized it was a bad idea as I am quite curvy and all that did was push my bust up through my tank top. I quickly unfolded my arms once I seen his eyes dip low then back to my face. His grin widened.
"Ugh" I turned back towards my door to walk into my apartment
"Hey wait!" He reached out and grabbed my hand,
"I'm sorry, my names Shawn and I live in 506" he rushed out. I looked at him, he seemed to be genuinely sorry but he already pissed me off.
"Nice to meet you," I responded as I walked into my place
"Shawn." And proceeded to shut the door.*present*
It's been about a week since that interaction and now he's headed this way, seeing me in my doorway as an invitation to talk to me. When clearly, it's not."502, what's going on?" with a smile on his face and his hands in his pockets, he started the conversation. He wore a dark navy blue V-neck shirt, dark blue jeans and white converse. A brown braided bracelet sat on his left wrist; his right arm consisting of all animal tattoos. Every animal was top of the food chain, one spot seem to be missing, one on his forearm. It was as if an animal had jumped right off his arm.
"What animal you putting there?" I gestured towards his arm with my chin.
He looked down and frowned,
"I'm not sure, what do you think?" he retorted. He looked at me with an amused smile but his eyes were full of curiosity. I stared at him for a couple of seconds then finished screwing the black screw in,
"Panther" I finally responded."Why?" Looking back at him he was a little closer to me, leaning up against my doorframe.
I backed up into my apartment a little, why is he so close to me,
"I just like them." I rushed out.
"Hmmm" he responded,
"You know, you're kinda hard to talk to" he said slowly. I sighed
"And yet here you are trying to talk to me still," I said still looking at him and he chuckled.
"I'm just hoping you fall In love with me" he smiled at me. I couldn't help but laugh, this guy,"You don't even know my name" I wheezed out. He just stood there watching me with that stupid grin,
"Perhaps. Maybe I could earn it over dinner tonight?" He responded smoothly. My laugher died down and I looked at him again,
"How do you know I'm not a serial killer? He raised a brow,
"How do you know IM not one?" He paused.
"That doesn't make me want to go to dinner with you" I laughed,"But for your sake, I'd hope not. How about at 7:30?" I don't get paid until tomorrow and I have nothing here. Plus I don't know the area that well yet, it should be okay. I think. He smiled wide,
"It's a date then." HUH?
"No. We're just floor buddies" I rush out. He frowned,
"Then I assume you're paying for your own meal?" He replied smugly. Grrrrr I grit my teeth,
"Fine, a date then" I grumbled through my clenched teeth."Excellent! I'll be here at 7:30 sharp" he clapped his hands and turned back around to go to his apartment.
Did he really just come down here to bother me? How annoying. The only thing annoying was the smile on my face from a complete stranger I barely met.
