We unpack in silence. I have so much steam built up inside of me I could explode. I am mad at my mom and what she did for me.
The steam does not die down at all that night. Dinner is quiet. My mom tries to make conversation but I just ignore her.
I go to bed early and snuggle with the pillow. I missed my fireman bedroom I had at the Murphys. Oh, the Murphys. I missed them too much. I wish I was with them and not in this hotel.

The next morning, when I woke up, there was no one there.
“Mom?” I called out.
When I entered the kitchen, I saw a note that said,
“Carely,
I have to work until 7:30 this evening. I didn’t want to wake you so I just left. There is food for you and some money for you if you want anything from downstairs.
Have fun today and I’ll see you tonight!
-Mom”
I put the note down with a sigh. I was going to be really bored. I decided I would go explore the lobby of the hotel.
I had my breakfast and got ready to go.
