"Escape"

Maxine's POV

This felt different than before. I wasn't trapped inside it. I wanted to sound threatening and I did. I felt like I was the beast and not inside of it. It somehow made me feel stronger.

"Max, please breath"

My brother said, putting his hand on my shoulder. I looked over his shoulder, which was quite hard since I'm shorter than him. I could see my reflection staring back at me from the glass window. My eyes were glowing orange and the moonlight reflected off their wet surface making my eyes look like a raging fire.

_____

Scott's POV

Maxine's fingertips sparked with small flames and her eyes were once again glowing.
"Max, please breath" I said trying to calm her. She looked over my shoulder and a scared expression hit her face. Her fists clenched before she ran. She ran past me, brushing against my shoulder and making me stumble to the side.

Her fist collided with a glass window that was behind me and then she just stood there looking at her broken reflection. Her breathing was heavy and mixed with small growls.

Me and Mason stood still until we saw her fists relax and her hands open again.

She turned around just in time for us to see her eyes going back to normal. "I want to go home" She said plainly before looking at her bloody hand that now had no sign of injuries.

_____

I called Malia and she came to pick us up. I didn't tell her about Maxine just yet because I felt like it was her choice and she didn't trust Malia. Probably not even me.

She was completely silent the entire car ride except for a little sniffle that escaped her lips as Malia asked her about her blood soaked hands.

When Malia dropped us off, Max scrambled out of the car and straight up to her room. I could hear the shower turn on in her bedroom and when I focused I was sure I could hear her silent crying.

____

Maxine's POV

The cold water ran down my bare back. The water in the tub had turned red from the blood and some now stained the white tiled walls.

I hadn't had time to think over these last days. How could this have happened and why? I wasn't supernatural two days ago, why would I be now?

I sighed and turned off the shower, stepping out and letting the drain do it's work. The convenient blue towel that hung on a hook next to the tub became my only warmth when I threw myself on the bathroom floor.

After a few minutes I heard someone knocking on my bedroom door. "Maxine? Are you in there?" The concerned voice of my brother asked. "Go away" I yelled back, I really did feel like being alone right now. As if he had read my thoughts he responded. "Max, I don't want you to go through this alone".

I clenched my jaw. "Go through What?" I said angrily. He would never understand what I feel like right now. I feel like a monster.

"Please Max, just let me explain" He begged and I could see the puppy eyes he was making in my head.

I sighed and wiped off the last water droplets from my skin before throwing on my robe.
I threw open the door. "Explain" I said plainly and narrowed my eyes.

Scott forced his way inside and sat down on my bed. "I know exactly what you're going through" He said and looked me straight in the eyes. "No you don't" I said with a scoff.

Scott sighed and closed his eyes. "What are you do-" I started, but stopped when he opened them again, a bright crimson red staining his irises. I clenched my jaw and took a step back.
"You're one of them" I said and swallowed a lump that had appeared in my throat.

He nodded slowly. "Am I?" I asked, already knowing the answer. A tear rolled down my cheek as he once again nodded. "How?" I asked weakly.

He shook his head "I don't know".

"You're not like us" He said and I frowned. "Us?" I continued questioning. "Your not a werewolf" he clarified and looked up at me.
I leaned my back on the wall and slid down it already feeling the numbness of sadness and confusion spreading across my skin.
"What the hell am I!?" I half yelled, salty tears rolling into my mouth.

Scott once again sighed, he seemed to be unsure aswell. "We think, a Hellhound" What the hell is a hellhound, I thought. Werewolves were enough to make me dizzy from confusion, now he was explaining all these other creatures that have lived among us my entire life.

"Who else I know is.. You know 'supernatural" I asked and swallowed another lump.

My brother seemed to be hesitant over if he should tell me or not, but he had already decided. "You can meet them tommorrow" He said and got up from my bed.

"What the hell makes you think I would want that" I asked, following his movements and also getting up. "Trust me, you do" He walked over to my door and started closing it. "Get some sleep" he mumbled before the door closed completely, leaving me alone and broken with only my thoughts.

I can tell you one thing, they wouldn't let me sleep tonight.

It wouldn't let me.
