Things I Needed To Say

You carry all your emotional weight in your eyes.
I noticed today that they looked rather heavy,
and I would do anything to relieve you of their burdens.
For when your eyelids are as dense as lead you struggle to keep them open;
You struggle to see.

It's torturous to watch you walking blind simply because of your heavy eyes.
Mistakes seem to come more easily,
you end up hurt more often,
and more tears fall from your empty eyes.

I call them empty, yet I know they are anything but.
They are full;
Full of the pain from long past woes.
Full;
Full of the sights you wish to unsee.
Full;
Full of love, waiting to be given when your eyes can finally open again.

I wait for them to open again.

Although I know that I cannot lessen the weight of your burdens,
part of me still yearns to take your blindness for myself.
To take the pain,
the unwanted memories,
and the love.

Instead I may only take your hand,
and guide you with my own eyes.
