To Be Continued

She kissed me softly on the lips. It was a good kiss, the kind that makes your lips tingle as she lingers. The kind that makes the sun a little brighter as it reflects off her bright red hair. The kind that fills you with warmth against the cool breeze, and makes everything around you, all the sounds of the forest sound softer. "To be continued." She whispered softly into my ear...

Mr.Brightside by the Killers was halfway through the chorus before my alarm woke me up. I suppose its time as my wake-up-song is over if I am sleeping through it. I'll pick a new one later. Right now it is 5AM and that is too early to be finding cheery music. Especially when you are running on two hours of sleep.

By the time I got on the bus I was so swept I could barely keep my eyes open. So I wasn't too shocked when I walked into the bathroom and found a penis drawn on my face. Just fucking great.

After spending several minutes scrubbing my face-art off I headed to my locker to get my stuff. I started the day with my favourite class: Junior Comp 3. English has always been my best subject, and I have never had an English teacher I didn't like. That is of course, until this year.

It was maybe fifteen minutes into class. My teacher asked me a god damn comprehension question. I answered and I thought it was only loud enough for her to hear. But I was wrong. The laughter started as a slight giggle from the kid right behind me, but a few sly comments and it spread.

"Fucking idiot," she said.

Stop.

"Faggot,"

Stop it.

"Worthless little shit,"

STOP FUCKING LAUGHING.

I closed my eyes tight and counted to three trying to catch my breath. I could feel my lungs failing to open and only shrinking when I reached for air. My heart was beating out of my chest. Vomit was rising up my throat.

"R, can you answer or not?" My stupid English teacher's screechy voice intervened. I opened my eyes. Everything was different. Mrs.Malker was wearing a vibrant purple blouse, instead of the greenish one she was wearing just a second ago. Maybe it wasn't a second ago. My eyes scanned the board to find us in chapter 14, I thought we were in 5. Finally they came to rest on the date, November the 9th. I just blinked away a whole week.

It's happened before. I will go into a panic attack, and then totally go blank for a while after. Longest one was two weeks, although most are only a day or so. The two week blackout was horrible, my worst experience Sophmore year. One second I was in Geometry trying to keep from strangling this asshole next to me, Kevin, and the next I was home going to bed.

Now, I am a Junior. Everybody expects me to know what I want to do and where I am going, but I barely even know what I am doing in the next five minutes. The edge of my vision began to darken and I rubbed at my eyes. The last thing I needed was to run into somebody in the hallway and draw attention to myself. Pulling my hands down from my face I noticed the darkness gone, but so was everyone else. The hall was dead empty. My first instinct was that the bell had rung and I was late. But there was something eerie about this empty hallway. Something that was a little off.
