I scowled at my mug in the rearview mirror pulling out of the driveway. My jawline was slightly swollen from the hit and a bit discolored. I turned left like I was going home and almost smacked myself for it. Max could see my frustration and offered to drive. I let him, and as we passed the lake house for a second time I realized I had never driven past it. This was the farthest I have ever been, and we were about to break that boundary.

"You know what?" Max turned and smiled at me, I looked over and was just about to ask what when I heard tires screech. I was thrown sideways and my head smashed against Max. I screamed, and I heard him shout too. I couldn't see what was outside the window the car was spinning. I felt my stomach flip as thr car leaned and rolled. Parts of the metal bent inside, one stabbing me and pinning my shoulder to my seat. The car came to a stop, breaking a tree.

"Max?" I cried out painfully looking over at his seat. There was broken glass on his face and blood trickling down from under his hairline.

"MAX!"

Max hit the breaks and steered away from a car coming from behind his sudden stop. I looked around the unbroken car, and grabbed at my shoulder. Everything was normal.

"Ryan? You okay? I thought you were asleep..."

I looked around again then my eyes came into focus on him and I bit back my tears.

"Yeah...I'm alright..." I replied shyly. He probably thinks I'm insane. He shook his head taking my hand in his.

"No, you arent. How long have these been going on?"

"Awhile..." I mumbled.

He gave me a concerned look then nodded. Max pulled out on to the road again heading into the next town. My stomach growled for breakfast.

"Should we make a food stop in this town or the next?" I shrugged and he reached back and grabbed some snacks. He decided if we hold out till lunch in the next town over we will make better time. I munched on crackers quietly and he turned up the radio.
