Hi, I’m lily. I’m 17 in a few weeks, and this is the story of how my life went from bad to good.

Last year on October the 24th, I met who I thought was the love of my life - Tyler. He was my best friend and also the one I loved with all my heart. On December the 18th, he took me to the fair and asked me to be his girlfriend at the top of the Ferris wheel. When I got home that night I was so happy that he was mine. The next day at noon our home phone rang. I picked it up and was so shocked as to what I heard on the other line. I ran out to my car putting my keys in the ignition and then I was off, running through many stop lights. I made it to the hospital and ran as fast as I could to the front desk.

“Hello, how can I help you?” The lady asked, a genuine smile on her tanned face.

“Can you please tell me where Tyler Adams is?” I rushed, staring at her with tears in my eyes.

“Right down the hall to your left,” she replied. I ran down the corridor.

I turned left to see his mom standing there, looking at me with her eyes full of tears. She held her arms out. I ran into her embrace and started crying

After a while I finally pulled away, my arms still holding her.

“What happened?” I asked, worried. She began to cry again. After a while, she finally stopped crying and wiped the tears from her eyes before answering.

“He was driving to Pizza Hut with Darren,” she sobbed. “And then, from what we know, he got stabbed in the right forearm causing him to crash. Darren is know where to be found! The police found a knife, and right this minute they are finding the finger prints,” she said in-between sobs

By now I was in tears, too.

“Is he going to be okay?” I asked. She looked down for a moment. She gazed her eyes back to mine, her face dulling down by the second.

“He… he—” she stuttered. “He barely has a pulse, sweetie. He’s not going to make it,” she replied. Once again I was in her arms and we were both crying.

“Can I see him?” I asked, tears still in my eyes.

She smiled sadly with a nod. She pointed to the room in which he was in. I walked to the room and opened the door to see him lying in a white, dull hospital bed. He looked so pale, it broke my heart. I walked over to him in and sat on the chair beside his bed.

I began to tear up once more just looking at him. I sat there for two hours, not saying anything. His mum came in and told me to go home. She could see how much it hurt me to see him like this.

Just as I got up I heard the heart monitor let out a lifeless, long beep. I turned around to see his monitor – it had no heart rate. I ran out of the room

“HELP, HELP!” I screamed with tears running down my face. The nurses heard my desperate calls and came running followed by the doctors.

20 minutes later the nurse came out.

“Family of Tyler Adams?” She asked, looking around the waiting room. We all stood up, looking at her expectantly. “Um, miss? I need to speak to you,” she said pointing at his mum. I sat back in my seat with my head in my hands.

About a minute later I heard screaming and crying. I looked up to see his mum in tears.

I knew exactly why she was crying. Suddenly I felt my heart shatter into a million pieces. I fell to the ground in a crying heap.

Everything then went all foggy and, before I knew it, everything went black
