—Rose's POV—
"Rose....Rose wake up."
Michaelangelo's voice woke me from my slumber hours later.
"Hm? What's going on?"
"We're home."
He spoke as he pointed towards the window.
I rubbed my eyes, getting them adjusted to the light before gasping.
This was...my old home.
"Why did you bring me here?" I questioned.
"You seemed so sad, about your parents and the way you left. I hope I wasn't too forward in assuming you'd like to see them again."
"How did you-"
He cut me off, "I made a few calls, we have a couple of people working in the department for us. I'm sorry, is that creepy?" His eyes started to widen in panic.
I shook my head, my heart was racing.
"No, it's nothing like that I just- what if they don't want to see me?"
I felt my own panic beginning to rise.
"I'm sure they've missed you, the worst they can do is throw us out. Come on, I'll be right there with you."
He sent me a reassuring smile, squeezing my hand once before unlocking the door and opening it.
I walked up the steps to the house, stopping a few feet in front of the door.
I raised my hand and let three taps fall upon the door.
My heart was pounding as my mother's familiar, off-key humming slowly made it's way closer and closer to the door.
As the door creaked open I heard the sound of a feminine gasp, I looked up to see my mother gazing at me, looking between Michaelangelo and I.
Tears clouded her eyes and she looked to me and pulled me in for a hug, after a few moments of being in shock I felt my arms wrap around her and squeeze her back gently.
"Come in, please. Get out of the terrible weather."
She ushered us into the warm house, closing the door and offering to take my shawl.
I hadn't realized that I was still in the ballgown from the party.
"I was just making some tea, I'll bring you both some. Rose you look frozen right down to the bone, we still have some of your old clothes if you'd like."
She smiled that warm smile that always made me feel better.
"Sure mom, that sounds great."
I replied.
"Where's dad?"
I asked as I sat on the couch, mom brought out some tea and handed us the mugs, we thanked her and she sat down.
"Well...he's out. He had some pack business to tend to."
I nodded and put the mug down on the coffee table.
"Did...did you ever explain to him about what happened?"
I questioned, she nodded in reply.
"I did, he of course didn't understand but I know he'll come around."
I sighed in frustration, letting Michaelangelo stroke my back slowly.
"So who's this? Your protector?"
She asked, I shook my head and felt the heat come into my face.
"No, um he's actually my mate."
I looked away quickly as her hand flew up to her mouth and she set her cup of tea down.
"But I thought Jack was your mate."
I let my head hang low as I answered.
"I thought so too."
Mom's face contorted into a mask of confusion.
"I'm not following...what do you mean?"
I took a deep breath and looked down to the coffee table that held my steaming cup of tea before I began to speak.
"I left with Michaelangelo, we're here to talk with daddy."
I finished my story and mom looked close to tears as she looked between Michaelangelo and I.
"I'll go take these to the kitchen."
She finally spoke as she stood up, took our mugs and walked into the kitchen.
••
"Jeez, it's cold out there. Alice! Baby are you home?!"
I heard my father's voice call from the front room. I stood up with Michaelangelo's hand there for support as I heard his footsteps round the corner.
"Dad."
I breathed and waited in anticipation for a few moments.
I thought he was going to yell at me, ask me where I had been and why I didn't talk to him.
Yet he ran to me and hugged me close to him, as if he'd never held me once in his life.
He reeked of cigar smoke and wood, it was good to be home.
"It's good to have you here Rosie."
Dad smiled as he pulled out of the hug, I smiled back.
"It's good to be back, dad."
I grinned as he sat down in his chair and mom came out of the living room with more mugs.
"Hello dear."
She smiled and gave him a quick kiss.
"How was your trip?"
She asked.
"Better now that I'm home."
He smiled at her before taking a seat next to her on the couch.
"Now, we need to talk about what's going on."
Mom looked to me apologetically before nodding to me encouragingly.
I spoke to my father about everything that had happened since I met Jack, up to the day before I came home.
"That's where Michaelangelo found me, he drove all this way for...for-"
I stopped and looked back to Michaelangelo.
"What exactly did you bring me out here for?"
"Well sir."
He spoke to my father.
"I've come to take you home, back to my land."
