IJEKIEL
"Ijekiel? Ijekiel? Wake up, it's time to go to the debutant ball!"My father knocking against the wall obviously has an exasperated expression right now.
"Father, I am awake, I'll be going out in a bit."
"As expected of my son, you are indeed an Alpheus. You gave to get ready for today...today...Jennette..."
"...will be introduced to the emperor."
I looked at myself in front of the mirror and tightened my necktie, wearing the silver coat that was especially made for this day. I buttoned my coat and an unexpected—no. An expected knock came forth. Three soft knocks, against my door.
"I...Ijekiel? May I...come in?"
"Yes. Come in, Jennette."
With a magnificent blue dress as her gown, the sparkling, jeweled eyes of Jennette looked at me with anxiety.
"U...umm... do you think...he'll...Father will...li...like me?" Her quaky voice said that made me chuckle.
"Ijekiel! This isn't a laughing matter you know." I walked towards her and placed my hand on her shoulders, giving it a squeeze to comfort her.
"Jennette, look at you right now." I said in a calm voice and pulled her towards a mirror. I went behind her afterwards.
"You look stunning, Jennette, he'll love you." I smiled at her and it reflected on the mirror causing her to turn her head to glance at me. She sighed and give me a timid smile.
"Well, I don't have any choice but to be encouraged by your words right?" She said as she changed the structure of her jeweled eyes into a plain blue color.
The night of the debutant day came and as expected, the Princess Athanasia came in a separate time from Your Majesty. I guess they were never in good terms? It seems that they aren't.
The Princess was also stunning, but no eyes were on her...maybe...only mine...but I don't care. Today's Jennette's day. The day they'll be full fledged sisters. The day...Jennette will finally receive the love she'd always long for from His Majesty.
"It's time to greet the king." My father said, signaling Jennette. I glanced over her and saw the anxiety that she's trying so hard to hide. I walked beside her and held her hand as I cling it over my elbow. She looked at me with her shaky eyes. Her eyes are back at being jeweled. I smiled at her and told her to look ahead.
My father is now introducing each of us.
"Your Majesty, blessings and glory upon the sun of Obelia." The King, Claude, looked at us with his sharp gaze, like he is examining each one of us. By each one, I meant only one...Jennette.
"Oh? What do we have here? Who might this be, Roger Alpheus?"
"Your Majesty, are you curious about her? Your daughter?" I let go of Jennette and that's the time where she bowed in front of His Majesty. She looked upward towards him and bowed her head again and did the same thing all over.
"Oh? How interesting. Let's continue this conversation in the throne room."
The King stood up and that was our cue to start following him.
"Eh? The King's daughter?"
"That girl?"
"What about Princess Athanasia?"
"There will be a new princess now, after all the King doesn't care about the Princess Athanasia."
The mumbling started and the crowd started to buzz around. Jennette looked sad and roamed her eyes around. It seemed that she was looking for the Princess Athanasia.
My tall demeanor was enough to make me spot her in the midst of the crowd. She looked shocked and overwhelmed. However, it was immediately replaced by a sad expression. Like, the thing you've ever worked hard for to have was taken away from you before it can even be yours.

= Flashback =
"Ijekiel? Ijekiel!" I snapped back to reality as my father sighed."Why were you dozing off?"
"No...I was recalling a dream I had earlier."
"A dream? You can think about it later. For now, your transfer..."
"Father, do I really have to go? I've always followed you but this time I don't want to—"
"This girl...have you heard of her?" My father slid an envelope in front of me. When I opened it, I recognized her as someone from my dreams.
"Princess...Athanasia?" Oh. I said that out loud.
"Princess? Have you met her, Ijekiel?"
"I...no, father." In my dreams, I did.
"Make sure you meet her in that new school okay? It will be beneficial for the Alpheus family if you did."
= END of FLASHBACK = ————
I recalled my dream from before and my conversation with my father. I've known her ever since before we were reincarnated. This book reminded me of that. The reason I'm in this school is because of that dream that is now revealed to be a memory of mine. Now I know. the Princess Athanasia is the reason why I'm here.
Everything that happened in my dream from before, they were real. It did happen in the past. I don't think it can happen again here in the present. I mean, she is smiling brightly, right?I just don't want to see that sad expression on her face again. If I can't save her before, I can do that now. I have knowledge, I know who is going to—
"Ijekiel?" I looked for the voice who called my name out and saw the brunette named Jennette. If you really stare at her for a long time, you'd be able to see that she has her jeweled eyes. The princess's half-sister. The one taken in by my father. The one...I married in the past.
"Yes?" I gave her a soft smile. Right now, I was just done crying because of the book. The pieces all came together. It seems that she is anxious right now. It just made me remember my dream. I chuckled and held her hand to place the book over it.
"You were looking for this book right?"
"Y...you read it?" She fidgeted a bit too.
"Well, every book should be read right?" I winked at her and I saw her being pale as she tiredly lowered her shoulders, not wanting to accept my answers.
"I...you..."
"I'm going to protect her. Your sister." I firmly said and walked away.
