School gets out at 2:45. It is 2:50 and I am waiting in front of his locker. Still no Sam. If he doesn't come in five more minutes, I just decided I'd leave. I mean, maybe this was just a big hoax to get some girl to react, and maybe Sam was with the bullies.

While creating the scenario, Sam came running down the hall, his book bag and papers flailing.

"Nai-Naomi! He yells, and I turn around. I relax, knowing that he didn't ignore me, and listen to him begin to speak.

"Hi! Oh my gosh, thank you for waiting! I was worried you'd ditch me."

"Um, no problem," I said with a smile.

"So, anyways," he lowered his voice,"I have an idea. "Just come over to my house, and I'll tell you all about it." Um, okay? He is a lot more outgoing than he's made out to be.

Then my phone rings. I pull it out to see that it is, in fact, my mother, and I walk a few steps away to answer while he gets his bag ready.

"Honey, I've been outside for 15 minutes! Where are you? Caleb's in the car and we're going to be late for practice!"

I smile. "Actually, today I'm going to a friend's house."

"Oh. Okay. Um, who?" she awkwardly asks.

"Sam."

"What time should I come get you?"

"I'll walk. It can't be that far."

"Okay. Well, have fun then!"

"I will."
