I got somewhat bored and have been wanting to write a murder mystery story for awhile now. The netflix show "Busted!" inspired me to write this kind of story. This is the first mystery genre story I've ever written before and hope to get some feedback on what I can improve. It's kinda long for a short story, but that's mainly because I didn't know how to get to the conclusion part so I more or less dragged it out. I hope you enjoy reading the story!

08:00 pm, Thursday, November 22.

Drammen, Norway.

Sirens echoed outside of the apartment building. Police stood by the door of the apartment where the crime scene happened. Forensics lurked around the dimly lit room, looking for any clues for the murder scene before them. Dried blood was splattered on the wooden floor. A knife lay close to where a body lay in the living room. The victim was a woman around her 30's. Inside a bedroom, forensics found a dead boy, presumably the woman's son.

Two men in suits arrived at the scene. The head officer of the police team approached to greet them. "Crime investigator Henriksen, a pleasure to meet you sir" said one of the men in suits, "and this is my partner, crime investigator Lewis".

"Officer Stein, a pleasure" the police officer nodded. Officer Stein gestured inside the apartment and said, "this way".

Both crime investigators scanned the room before them. They walked towards the dead victim's body in the living room. Henriksen analysed the dead body. There were bruises on her body, but none that looked fresh. His partner, Lewis, left Henriksen to go to the other victim.

The boy was very young. He looked to be around ten to thirteen years old. His dead body lay sprawled on the floor with traces of dried blood trailing down his chin. The boy's room had a black carpeted floor and walls were decorated with drawings done by him. Nothing seemed to be out of place. Books were nicely placed on the boy's shelf; toys were in their baskets and the bed was neatly done.

Lewis rendezvoused with Henriksen in the living room. There, the head forensic scientist and the police officer, Stein, were present with the crime investigator. They discussed the current findings in the scene. "We have gathered as much evidence as we could of any biological material present in the scene" said the forensic scientist, "we shall further inspect them along with your findings".

"Were there any witnesses present or anyone else who might have a clue as to what occurred?" Lewis asked.

"There was no eyewitness in this scene as far as I know" officer Stein informed. He put a hand under his chin and furrowed his eyebrows. "The one who called was the victim's neighbour, Mrs. Moe. She informed that she was on her way to give some cake to the victims and found the door of the apartment left ajar".

Lewis looked towards his partner and the police officer. "There seemed to be no signs of forced entry in the apartment. Nothing seems out of order either. The furniture and the items seem to be unmoved".

By midnight, the crime scene was cleared of people. All areas were searched for any evidence that could help the murder mystery. The dead bodies were transported to the morgue for autopsy.

Henriksen and Lewis sat in their office in deep thought about their case. Signs of murder were rather clear for their case, but other possibilities such as suicide could not be completely ruled out even though they were highly unlikely. The victims were a single mother and a young boy, Mrs. Kleive and her son, Marius. Both victims, dead with no visible signs of struggle.
