Savage Love >> John Murphy

Chapter 10

We moved around a bend to be greeted with a man atop a horse, I stopped immediately reaching out for Murphy's hand. I locked eyes with him and he saw the panic in my eyes. I moved closer and watched at Emori yanked him out of my grasp.

"Amelia, you can still join us...it's not too late. We know a safe passage," I looked toward her and then to my partner, "You are just a stain to the bloodline," I watched her face contort into a look of anger and she knocked John unconscious.

I watched her and her brother take off and as soon as John was awake I started walking in a direction that was said to go in the bedtime stories. "Where do you think you're going?" I heard Jahas voice. "I'm going to the city of light, if it is real my daughter will have a safer chance at life." I told him and I heard him and John share a few words before he held my hand in his.

As we came to a hill I didn't like the looks of the ground and this kid telling jokes was annoying me, my wishes for him to shut up we're granted when he blew up and the blood costed my clothes. I screamed out "Stay still! There's mines everywhere!" I screamed, I saw some faint tracks and started to follow them until the wind blew harshly and I looked to see a sand storm headed in our direction.

I stood up and helped up a couple others and felt a small kick in my stomach, "Calm little one, we'll make it to the city. Don't worry," suddenly I felt her kick again and I laughed and held my stomach with one hand.

"Look the tracks are gone, it's sand...it blows," I laughed slightly and shook my head at my fiancé's comment. "Stop being a smart ass, J," he chuckled and we were led across the mine fields by Jaha."

As we came to a stop behind a large sign I walked forward, it read 'warning minefield'. I rolled my eyes and glanced at John, "Geez, I had no idea," he smirked at me and put an arm around my waist. I looked up and saw a light: "Oh my god, it's real!" I started rushing up the giant dune and was confronted with a painful sight.

"No, I flew down from space, I found my people. It was all for a reason; not for this!" Tears had started to gather in my eyes. This wasn't just for my daughter, it was for my mother, for my father, for my brother...FOR EVERYONE!

"NO!" I screamed out, I saw everyone snap their heads in my direction, I crumpled to the floor. When I saw Murphy throw the rock I was about to do the same, until a weird machine came from it, "What is that?" I asked, I heard some murmurs and the word 'drone' a couple of times.

I followed the group to a boat, water...no no no, I panicked as I knew there'd be a leach in that lake. "No guys, there's always a leach in lakes like this," I commented but no one listened to me and as soon as John got on that boat I followed him.

"Land!" I heard one of the men behind me scream, I looked up to see a flying light, "How does an island of light sound to you, John." I knew Jaha didn't like me it was pretty obvious. As we got to a certain part in the water the boat was bumped.

My heart fell when someone fell in the water, I went to help him but John told me I needed to stay safe. I did what he told me and that's where I am now, trying to stop the bleeding on Johns arm, I glared at the psycho in front of us.

As we reached the shore John helped me out, I also saw Jaha try to help him. I stood up and shoved his chest making sure to use all of my strength, "Don't fucking touch him you psycho!" I screamed in his direction, my voice slightly hoarse from the screaming on the boat. A drone flew over head and he ran off telling us that he'd come back for us.

I sat down by John who had fallen asleep and so I placed his head in my lap, I smiled at him and slowly fell into an uncomfortable sleep.

When I awoke, John was walking ahead, I climbed to my feet and hurried after him slowly falling into step with him and into a comfortable silence. It soon breaking when John stood on something that sounded metal like.

As he brushed away leaves he saw a weird panel, as soon as the sun had hit the black panel I heard faint music. "J, can you hear that?" I asked with an excited smile on my face, he smiled at me and as we walked further we found a door.

John has finally got the door open and we walked down the stairs hand in hand, I saw a few bottles of liquid and was about to take a sip when John snatched it out of my hands. "Nope! Alcohols bad for the baby," I smiled st the care laced in his words and walked over to the couch and as soon as I sat down the large screen flickered on.

I yelped and moved closer to John who put a protective arm over my body while laughing. A video played of a man repeatedly saying sorry and then finally he pulled a gun on himself. I screamed and stood up running up the stairs only to be stopped by the door slamming shut.

"John! The doors shut!" I screamed and he ran up pounding his fists on the door. I started to panic and held my head in my hands and fell to the floor sobbing lightly. "It's all over, we're gonna die down here and our child won't even get to have a proper look at life." I kept sobbing even when John tried to get me to stop and the more I sobbed the more reality hit me.

"Amelia! Enough! Listen to me goddamnit!!" I sobbed harder as he yelled at me thinking that all I do is make people angry and I stood up and walked away still sobbing. "I-i...i-i....I'm sorry!" I fell to the floor again and I felt a soothing kiss to my head and I looked up to see an apologetic look on Johns face. I leaned into his chest and cried harder.
