She was right. My mom named me Symphony before she died in a fire and left me alone. The wolves named me Sammy, after the Wolf word for "she who speaks Cat". I completely abandoned my legally given name and went by first Samantha, then Samuel, and finally, Sammy. At this point, my name means "they who speak Cat".

I shake my head and force a smile. "Sorry, I don't know what came over me."
