Meeting of unlikely friends

A new wave of panic set in as I thought 'when is this nightmare going to end?' I felt hot tears travel down my face as I lied there in the grass listening for that sound or just any sound of movement nearby. But I was so distracted that I completely missed my own signs of an anxiety attack beginning. I finally noticed as I slowly I began to shake uncontrollably making so much sound in the grass around me that it was all I could hear. Before I could properly calm myself down the world around me began to darken and I passed out from pure panic.

I couldn't tell you how long I was out for for the life of me.. an hour.. a day.. a week.. I couldn't say. All I know is that as I started to gain consciousness I heard growl like voices all around me.

"What is it?"

"A human what else could it be!"

"W-what should w-we do with it? Alpha"

"Kill it of course it's an intruder! This is our Territory!"

"Yeah!!! This is our territory!!"

At this point I had to know what was going on and finally decided to open my eyes. Bad idea. As soon as I opened them all talking stopped and all eyes were on me. I was surrounded on all sides by some sort of pack of dog people? They looked human but they had the ears and tails of dogs and there was something distinctly about their eyes that didn't seem human. They all looked at me with such hungry eyes but did not move as if they were waiting for something to happen. "What are you doing here human" said one of the dog people menacingly. At first I couldn't tell which one was talking to me but it didn't take me long to find it as he was around 8 feet tall. I looked at him questioning as I had no idea what to say to that. "I SAID WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE HUMAN!!!"

"I don't know" I say quietly.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU DON'T KNOW?!" He yelled again taking a few steps forward.

"As I said I don't know... I-I was being attacked when suddenly I w-was lying right here..." I didn't back away as the dog people were in a ring shape around me, though I did feel a small wave of panic wash over me. I wasn't sure my body could take another attack at the moment nor could I afford it so I took a few deep breaths trying to calm my nerves down. I suddenly gasped in pain as I leaned on my right hand I had become so distracted by the dog people around me that I had forgotten I was hurt.

"Being attacked and then suddenly teleporting..hah.. that's impossible you better come up with a better excuse human seeing as your kind is neither advanced enough nor has any power to do such things!" He advanced a few more steps the others seemed to have gotten some more courage and followed his lead in taking a few steps towards me.

"I'm telling the truth.. I-I was attacked... a-and then I-I w-was here.. you have to believe m-me," I was becoming more nervous and I was starting to loose control of my breathing.

"Since you can't tell the truth I suppose we'll just have to finish now.. ATTACK!!" He screamed to the rest of the pack but as they charged at me a dog ran in front of me.

"STOP!" The dog growled. As it said this I noticed this wasn't a normal dog it was bigger than any dog I've ever met, it's fur was the deepest shade of black I've ever seen, and it's eyes seemed far more intelligent almost human but not quite.

"What are you doing River?! Protecting a puny human? Get out of the way!!" The dog man yelled at the creature in front of me.

"NO!!" River yelled back not moving from his position in front of me.

The 8 foot tall dog man stopped about 5 feet away from us as did everyone else in their pack. He glared at River and said, "What did you say to me?"

"I said 'no' I have reason to believe she's telling the truth." River answered in such a cold and unfeeling voice that it caused many in the pack to take a few steps back. But the dog man didn't not budge his glare only grew more deadly.

"And what makes you think this... thing.. could be telling the truth" he said through gritted teeth.

"As you probably haven't noticed since you were to distracted by her human appearance her sent is to strong for her to be human or at least fully human... and haven't you noticed she's hurt her right p-hand is wrapped tight with that fabric but bloods seemed to soak through making her scent stronger" River slightly cocked his head to the side at this looking at the dog man with questioning eyes.

The dog man looked at me as if he were really seeing me for the first time noticing my hand and probably smelling me from there. Man... I need a shower. "Fine... Ludo, Celia grab her things... Oh and River since your so insistent on this you guide her. If anyone can clear up this mess it's chief Leah." The dog man looked at River for a few more seconds then added, "go on River take this thing to your mother."

I looked around as the beings around me began to move a man and woman from the group made a move to take my bag but I quickly grabbed it with my good hand. "Don't worry we aren't going to separate you from it for long... human" the woman said in disgust taking my bag from my hands and holding it as if she were holding some sort of bomb. The man next to her picked the knife up off the ground and examined the blood on it in high interest before being dragged off by the woman.

River finally turned around and now I could see his eye better they were the deepest shade of black I've ever seen They looked almost as if I could drown in them. He nudged my good arm almost as if he were telling me to get up. It took me a few seconds but I managed to stand. I looked around for him but couldn't see him anywhere. Then I heard a small growl from my right and looked over.. there he was standing barely inside the tree line waiting for me to follow. So I took a deep breath and did the only thing I could think of. I followed him.
