Abanilia traveled 48 hours. Some by bus, but most by train. She had gotten across the U.S without being stored for anything serious. She breathed in the musky air of LA. She once again threw her duffle bag over her shoulder and began to walk. She had a bit of cash from her part time job and what she stole from her father's safe. In total she had almost 2k.
She walked until she found a small apartment building and decided to take her chances.
Abanilia walked into the lobby, if you would call the small room that, and walked up to the counter. The building had many floors, so she wasn't surprised it acted more of a hotel. The sign had said that it was "Telesavis Apartments".
When she walked up to the desk, a middle age woman looked up at her. Her eyes grew wide as she looked Abanilia up and down.
"Hello, may I help you?" The older woman asked with a soft, pitiful look on her face. Abanilia ignored the look.
"Um, I know this is weird, but I was wandering if you had a small room open for rent? I just moved into town. Actually, I just got off a bus." She admitted sheepishly as she looked down at her dirty jeans.
The woman at the desk typed something into the computer and her eyes lighted up, clearly delighted. "Aha! Room 309 just opened up this morning! It's one of our cheapest rooms, it being only a one room apartment, but it's in great shape! It's only 250 a month." She said and looked up at Abanilia.
She sighed in relief and smiled at her. She handed Abanilia a bunch of papers to full out, and she answered them all correctly. There was no point in lieing when her father was in New York.
The woman waited patiently and smiled when Abanilia handed her the clipboard. "Great!," She said and stands up. "I'll bring you to your apartment!"
Abanilia nods "thank you." She said and slung her bag over her shoulder. The woman walked slow enough for Abanilia to keep up. Finally they got to room 309.
"Rules are simple. Don't throw a party, no loud noises, and finally no strangers coming or going after three am. If you work at that time, just come to me and I'll make sure to leave the front door unlocked for you." She slipped the key to the room into Abanilia's hand.
"I wish you the best of luck." The woman said and smiled. "Thank you miss." Abanilia said as the woman walked away.
Abanilia opened the door and pushed it open, the door sqeaking in protest. She was surprised when she opened the door and it was indeed a very well kept room. The walks had green wallpaper that slightly curled and yellowed at some corners. The floors were a dark carpet that had a few stans, but looked easy enough to removed.
Abanilia let her bag fall from her shoulder as she shut her door. She smiled to herself as relief and fear both overwhelmed her. However, she didn't dwell on it long. She went through her bag and grabbed her money.
She decided to split it up into thirds. The first part would be for rent, the second for hygiene purposes, and the third for food. She had brought some things like shampoo, conditioner, her toothbrush and toothpaste, and her hairbrush and body wash.
She looked for a door and opened it, finding a decent sized bathroom with a medicine cabinet and a bath with a shower. She placed her things beside the tub and walked back out. She then hide her money in different places, as to perfect her from going completely broke just in case someone broke in.
After Abanilia grabbed a large tee and panties before going to bathroom. She quickly brushed through her hair before stripping of her dirty cloths. She turned on the water, the steam quickly filling the room. She took a few deep breaths as she scrubbed her body until her skin was a dark red both from the pressure of her nails and the hot water. She lathered her hair with soup and washed it quickly.
When she was done, she turned off the water and without drying off she slipped the large oversized shirt over her head and slipped on her panties.
She looked into the mirror and met her own green eyes and deep crimson shaded hair. She sighed as she quickly brushed her teeth and combed through her long wavy hair.
She walked out of the bathroom and jumped when she seen a man standing there.
"Ah! April said you should be here. My name is Tomas, but most call me Tom. I'm the owner of this building. I just wanted to stop by and welcome you. Also, the mattress in the pull down bed has been replaced. Just had it done." The man, Tom, said with a warm smile. He looked Abanilia up and down before smiling sheepishly.
"I apologize for um- interupting. I shall leave now. Hope you have an awsome time here!" He quickly left the room.
Abanilia looked over to the bed that was pulled down while connected to the wall. It was one like what the blond one sleeps on in 'Two Broke Girls.'
Abanilia grabbed a small blanket she had packed and curled up on the comfortable mattress and soon fell into a deep slumber..
