Normally, dreams never really affected either of the two friends, however they both took slow, cautious steps as they got ready to meet that morning.
"Brandon," Faith's voice shook into her phone, "I'm so paranoid, I keep looking over my shoulder every second to make sure nothing changes."
"I know what you mean," He reassured in a low voice, getting out a small box to place his friend's sweet treat in, "I've kept my eyes on my mother since I woke up."
At first, Brandon thought it was just a dream, however after getting panicked messages from Faith, they both knew it was something more.
"Listen, I'm leaving in about 10 minutes and I still need to get myself together. I'll talk to you in a bit." Faith said, laying out her black tank top, blue jeans and purple jacket onto her bed before she changed into them.
"Alright, be careful."
Beep
Faith sighed, putting her phone on her desk. She wasn't sure if she was ready for what the day had in store. Regardless of the unnerving feelings Faith had, she began getting ready for the day.

Brandon let out a deep sigh and put his phone in his pocket. He then closed the purple gift box with the delicate cookie inside and secured it with a white ribbon.
"Brandon, are you almost ready to go?" His mother called from across the house.
"Yeah mom, just a second." He answered, unknowing if he was being honest. He briskly walked into his room, leaving the box on the counter. Brandon slipped on his brown, leather jacket over his white t-shirt. He sat on his bed, putting on his socks and shoes, whilst mentally preparing himself for the day ahead.
As he stood up and began to walk out his bedroom, something fell out of his pocket. A thick, white, iridescent piece of paper. Brandon furrowed his brows as he knelt down to pick up the mysterious paper. When Brandon held the paper in his hands, his eyes went wide and a small gasp escaped his lips. It wasn't just a piece of paper, it was a note. It was the exact same note he thought he had left behind in his dream from the night before.

"Bye Faith!" Faith's family waved goodbye as she exited the car and walked through the park, desperate to find her friend.
"Faith!" Brandon exclaimed, standing up from the bench with a little box in his hand.
"Brandon!" She smiled genuinely for the first time that day. The two ran to each other and hugged tightly. They exchanged hellos, but the conversation didn't stay very normal very long. The friends sat down on the wooden bench, protected from the sun by the beautiful oak tree.
"So, about last night-"
"Last night can wait," Brandon interrupted, "This is for you." He handed Faith the gift box, but instead of seeing joy, happiness, or any other positive emotion, he saw fear and concern overtake his friend as she took it from his hands.
"Where..how.."
"Faith, is there a problem?"
"Brandon, this is the same box. That box from the dream." His heart dropped, remembering the note he'd found just twenty minutes ago.
"That's.. That's not possible. I got this box before I even had the dream."
"Clearly, it is. How? I don't know, but that's really not even the point. The point is, there is something happening and we need to know what." Faith stood up and put the box in her small, black purse. Brandon stood up with her, disappointed that dream had ruined his surprise. "Do you remember that note that little pixie brought? What did it say?"
"You mean this note?" Brandon asked, pulling it out of his jacket's front pocket.
Faith looked at the note that was somehow in perfect condition. "..yes." She snatched it from Brandon's hand and examined it herself.
"Should we head off to the cafe? It's not far from here. My treat." Brandon offered, trying to make up for this mess.
"Do we really have a choice?"
"Good point," Brandon agreed, taking the note and putting it back in his pocket, "One thing is for sure. That wasn't just a dream."
"Then what the hell was it?" Faith asked, locking arms with Brandon as they walked off to the cafe.
"I guess we're about to find out."
