4 years before the war

"12 o'clock.." Sighing, Frisk slumped sluggishly on the table in the small break room. She was still waiting so she could go home, hoping she would have some time to sleep until her next job.
'I'm pretty sure if I slept, i wouldn't be able to get up.' She had sat up a bit and pinched the bridge of her nose to the nasty migraine ringing in her head, until she heard the door creak open. Stepping inside with gentle steam coming from 2 cups of hot chocolate in her hands, a slim and tall lady with an apron and strait, black hair brought into a low pony, walked up to the tired 10 year old slouched on the table they use for there short breaks.
Frisk had looked up to the lady with eye bags under eyes and smiled gently.
"Thank you Miss Fiani" Frisk genuinely thanked her as Miss Fiani smiled back and placed one cup on the table near Frisk. "Fia, Kid" Fia reminded as she grabbed a chair that was next to the wall, and placing it on the other side of the table from where Frisk was sitting and sat down, while Frisk watched and sipped on her tasty drink.
Nodding, Frisk sighed after her 3rd sip.
"Whats up, kid?" Fia had asked.
Shaking her head, Frisk smiled again
"Just tired" Frisk replied with droopy eyes. Fia nodded with an understanding look.
"Of course you'd be tired, despite your age, you're in pretty deep shit." Fia chuckled and shook her head, then flinched when her grey, dull eyes met with Frisk's chocolate brown glared eyes from her choice of language.
Rolling her eyes and chuckled. "Sorry 'bout that, but you know what I mean." Fia apologized, and Frisk's eyes softened and smiled before taking another sip.
They both sat there in silence for a few minutes, only their sips could be heard in the room, until Fia broke the silence.
"So, how old were you again?" Fia asked as Frisk looked up from her drink.
"10, almost 11" Frisk replied
"Huh.. Wonderin' how you ended up like this." Frisk didn't say anything to that as she continued to sip on her drink.
There was silence once again but only this time it was awkward.
Getting up, Fia drank the last of her hot chocolate and placed the now empty cup on the table as she fixed her apron.
"Alright, break's over."
Nodding, Frisk got up as well after her last sips, and walked to the hooks on the wall next to the door leading to the kitchen of the restaurant, grabbing her apron that hung on them and placed them over her head and tied it around her waist.
Sighing, they both stepped out of their break room into the kitchen, Frisk going to the sink with a huge amount of dishes in them, getting ready to scrub them clean, as Fia walked to the cooks to bring the customers their orders, as what any waiter does.
Time to work....Wonder how many times she had thought that.
------------------------------------------
"2:00!!!" Frisk jumped and cheered, despite her fatigue. Fia gave a deep, long inhale, and then exhaled as if she had been holding her breath, taking off her apron and bringing a strand of her hair that had fell on her face behind her ear.
Frisk quickly ran to the break room to get her bag to take her leave. Fia doing the same but only without running.
After they came out of the break room, Frisk waved to the two cooks in the kitchen and stepped out of the kitchen door in the back of the main room in the restaurant, waving at the other workers that was getting ready to close the restaurant for the day.
Frisk looked around the restaurant in confusion, then skipped up to one worker placing the 'Closed' sign on the window.
"Mr Haim, do you know where Mr Orga is?" Frisk asked Haim as she referred to their boss and owner of the restaurant as he turned around to look at her.
"Oh, something came up, so he had to leave a few minutes ago. Did you need something?"
Shaking her head before smiling up at him, she replied.
"No, I just wanted to say my farewells to him, but if he's not here, that's fine too." She smiled
Haim brought his head up as he gave a big hearty laugh.]
Wiping a non-existent tear, he looked back down at the kid who had nothing but a smile and kindness. Bringing his hand down, he rubbed the top of Frisk's boy-cut brown hair messily.
" Alright, you sure you don't want me to take you home? I'm not doing anything anyways." He asked kindly, which caused frisk to shake her head.
"No, that's alright, i'm better on my own, besides, my dad would be confused if he saw you." Frisk giggled as Haim gave her a smile full of pity.
Frisk noticed the pity in his smile, and her smile dropped a bit.
"A-anyways, I better get going, tired as a sloth right now." Frisk said as she started to walk backwards until she turned the other way, waving.
Waving back, Haim sighed before Fia came next to him, both watching frisk walk out of the restaurant.
-----------------------------------------------------
Frisk sluggishly walked on the sides of the street in their village, looking up at the cloud filled sky.
Every one, every person, every SOUL she had seen..
Nothing but pity had filled them for her. And she understood why, but she cant help but feel weak to them.
It was not the first time, and certainly not the last, and she was to deal with it. Knowing that if it let it get to her, things would only get worse and worse for her.
She chuckled silently as she walked to the small alley way that was also a short cut to her home near the woods that separated her village, Grandye, and the village that was right near the border that separated the monsters country from us, Orienth.
Sighing, she let a sigh out.
Time to go home and get some sleep....
