We get off the plane, and get greeted by a couple.
"Libby!" Mom yells.
"Hazel!"
They hug and she notices me.
"So, this is Amber?"
"Hi." I smile.
"Hi, I'm Libby, as you heard." She smiles. "And this is my husband, Victor."
"Hi!" He says, giving me a charming smile. "You can call us by our first names, Amber."
I smile back and Mom and Victor give each other a hug.
"So," Libby says, putting a arm around me. "I have a daughter called Maya, and my stepdaughter, Ellie-"
"Wait, Ellie's your stepdaughter?" I say, looking at her.
"Yes." She replies. "She'll explain, lovie."
"Alright. Any other kids?" I say.
"I have a son. Cameron." She says then shakes her head, smiling. "All of you will get on great."
+
"Kids! Come see Amber!" Victor shouts then looks at me. "Sorry for shouting, sometimes those kids are deaf."
I chuckle and see a beautiful girl, about seventeen, walk downstairs.
"We are not deaf, Dad." She says then smiles at me. "I'm Maya, Ellie's been saying so much about you!"
"Good things, I hope." I say and she laughs.
"She's mentioned you have a sense of humor." She says, still smiling.
Then I look up and see Ellie, her brown hair flowing down, looking a bit different, but the same Ellie I met years ago.
"OH MY GOSH!" She screams. "AMBER?!"
"HI ELLIE!" I say and she jumps over the last ten steps and launches at me.
"It's been so long!" Ellie says, squeezing me. "We have a lot to catch up on."
"Maya, where's Cameron?" Victor says.
"He was sleeping-" Maya stops.
Then, a good looking guy walks down the stairs, wearing a singlet and sweatpants.
"Cameron." Victor says.
"I'm grabbing something to-" He says, notices me and smiles. "You must be Amber. Hi. I'm Cameron."
"Hi." I smile back.
He gives me a nod and walks away.
+
"So...you're going to share a room with Cameron." Maya says. "Is that cool?"
"Yea, that's cool." I nod.
"Let's get her stuff sorted into her room." Ellie says and Maya nods.
I go to help them, but they stop me.
"Amber, it's cool if you stay here. We're going to go sort your stuff out. Just make yourself comfortable." Maya says and I smile.
"Sure."
Ellie gives me a thumbs up, and they walk into the room. Sighing, I rest my head on Maya's bed.
"Long flight?"
I sit up and look at the doorway.
"Yep." I reply. "You scared me."
Cameron smiles and walks into the room, eating a sandwich while he does.
"Wait." I say and I scan his face. "Didn't you play Luke Ross from JESSIE?"
"Yep." He laughs.
"I love Carlos." I say and he smiles.
"Same. I got to show off my flips."
We both laugh and he sits on the bed, facing me.
"So, since you know everything about me, Amber, tell me something about you."
"I don't know." I shrug and he raises an eyebrow. "I'm Canadian?"
"Why do I think that's something your fellow sport Bieber would say?" He says and I laugh.
"Bieber's alright." I shrug. "I have nothing against him."
"Same. Met him in 2011." Cameron grins. "He's a pretty nice dude, to be honest. Just does some dumb things."
"You support Jelena?" I ask and he shrugs.
"I feel like he would do better without a model or Selena by his side."
"True. But Selena and him just keep running back to each other."
"That's true. They just can't seem to get it right." He sighs. "You want a sandwich?"
"Yes, please."
+
After an hour of eating, talking and laughing with Cameron, Maya and Ellie walk back into the room.
"So..you hitting on my best friend?" Ellie asks and Cameron rolls his eyes.
"I just met her." Cameron says and adds, "She's a pretty cool chick.".
"Ok. Get out now." Maya says. "Ellie, Amber and I got somethings to do."
"Like what, talk about boys, boys and boys?" Cameron says, standing up, and Maya whacks him with a pillow. "Ok, ok, I'm out."
Cameron walks out then turns around.
"Wait, is she sleeping in my-"
Ellie slams the door in his face and we all laugh.
I think I'm going to like it here.
