Love can go wrong

A day to remember

Katie's POV (Katie McCabe):
So there has been a bit of tension in the team, especially between the group that went clubbing one night. I vaguely heard from Jill what happened, but she wasn't very clear about it. Today is the last free day that we have before our regular schedule begins again, so I thought it would be a good idea to go to the beach since the weather is actually nice today (very rare in the UK). We decided to meet at the parking spot, so here I am, together with Emma and Kim, waiting for everybody. This is a rare situation because Jordan and Beth like to be on time, so I don't really understand why they're not here yet. Mitch (Emma Mitchell) and Kim are having a heated conversation about what the right time would be to bring up the night that none of us know much about. Right at the time that I hear Kim say something about respecting their privacy, I see 2 very familiar cars driving to us. On of them stops next to me and the window on the passengers seat opens. It shows a very annoyed Lisa.
"Why are you so late?" I ask, a little annoyed.
"Daan took FOREVER to get ready." Lisa says, emphasising the word forever.
"Not true!" I hear Daan yelling from the backseat. Poor Viv.
The 2 cars (Beth, Leah and Jordan being in the second car) drive off to find a parking spot. After another little while of waiting, they are finally here and we can go to the beach.

We have the entire beach to ourselves apart from 2 old people, who are sitting about 120 feet away from us. We all lay out our towels and take our clothes off (to reveal bikinis under it of course). Leah and Jordan are going swimming and Daan is going to build a sandcastle near the sea, little child that she is. The rest of us, Viv, Lisa, Kim and Mitch, are starting a conversation when we hear Leah and Jordan laugh. They're splashing  with water and pushing each other under water.
"They'd be a great couple if they were together." Lisa says.
"Oh, I think something is going to happen, especially after that night." Mitch adds.
"Wanna bet?" I say.
"On what?" Kim asks.
"When they're going to get together, 'cause they definitely will." I say with a frolic smile.
"2 weeks." Mitch guesses.
"2 weeks?! That's way to short! I say 2 months." Lisa exclaims.
"Shhh, they'll hear you!" Kim warns her.
"I say 4 months." I guess.
"But like, in actually being together, or in telling us that they are together?" Mitch tries to clarify.
"The second one, otherwise it will be very vague." Lisa adds.
"You guys are pure evil." We suddenly hear Viv say. I completely forgot that she was here and listening to our conversation.
"We're not evil, we are just making money out of our friends love." Lisa says to her girlfriend.
"Don't you hear how sick that sounds?" Viv asks us in disgust.
"You in or what?" Mitch quickly asks.
"3 weeks at most." Viv says.
Lisa smiles at her and gives her a quick peck on the lips. Ewww, gross. I think Lisa could read my face and says:
"Oh come on Katie, if you'll ever have someone, you'll do the same thing."
"Yeah Katie, why don't you have somebody?" Mitch asks with an annoying face.
"Because of you guys." They look at me with confused faces.
"The bet we just made?!" I say.
"Oh yeah, how much are we betting for?" Kim smoothly changes the subject. Phew, happy that we're not talking about that anymore.
"£20?"
"Deal." All of us say.

Leah's POV:
So me and Jord are having a great time at the beach. We have been swimming and splashing each other and now it's a contest of who will push the other one under water the first. I win and push Jordan under water. When she comes back up, she stands very close to me and I can't help but kiss her. Surprisingly, Jordan pulled away way to quick to my liking.
"Heyyy, what was that for?" I ask with puppy eyes.
"I'm sorry, I just don't want them to see us." Jords says while looking over my shoulder, to where the rest of the group is sitting.
"So? What's the big deal about that?" I ask, very confused.
"Well, they could tell Joe about us." She says, looking down at the water.
"Again, what's the big deal about that?!" I say, now getting a bit frustrated.
She sighs. "Joe could decide not to play us at the same time and I just got back from my injury so I don't want this to stand in the way. And you are a great player as well, you don't deserve to be benched."
"Wow Jordan, why would you think like that?" I ask, now getting a bit sad.
"I don't know, I am just scared of not playing a lot again I guess." She says with a sad undertone.
"If you would excuse me now, I'm going to join the other girls, the water is getting a bit cold." She says while walking past me, leaving me alone in the sea. Aargh, why is love so complicated?! Why can't we just be together with everybody knowing? Why is that such a problem for her?

Beth's POV:
As soon as we got to the beach, I couldn't get my eyes of Daan. Man she looks good in a bikini!
I saw her walking over to the sand next to the sea and starting to build something that looks like a sandcastle. I walk towards her and sit in front of her, trying not to break the castle.
"Hey." I say.
"Hi." She says back, while focusing on the castle.
"How did you sleep?" I ask. Jeez, Beth, could you really not have taught of any different question?
"Fine, I guess." She smiles a bit at my random question.
A little silence falls between us. Suddenly she opens her mouth again:
"I am so sorry, Beff, for being so childish and unreasonable at the cafe. I realised that I have been very mean and selfish screaming at you like that, I should have just listened to you and not scream at you. I hope you can forgive me and that we can be friends again." She suddenly apologises.
"It's alright, I'm sorry too for screaming." I say with a smile, being happy that we're good now.
"You screamed too? Damn Beff, you're a feisty one." She teases me. God damn Beth, why do you alway blush in moments like this?!
"Aww, you don't have to blush." Daan says, being annoying on purpose.
"Oh, shut up." I say.
"I'm glad we're okay." She says with the cutest little smile ever. Are you really falling for this girl Beth? Come on, you're in London for football, not to find love! Get your ass together!
"What's the little voice in your head saying?" Daan wakes me up from my dreaming.
"Telling me that you're beautiful." Seriously Beth?! Are you kidding me?! Oh god, this isn't going to end well...
"Flirting with someone you only have known for 4 weeks is a bold move, you know." Daan says, teasing me.
"Watch out! A wa-" I try to warn her for the big wave coming, but I am to late. We are both flooded by the wave and the sandcastle isn't surviving this attack. When the wave rolls back, I see Daan laying next to me, completely suprised by that wave. I start to giggle a bit but it soon grows and we have a laugh attack, laughing at each other's crazy laugh. She has a cute laugh. We finish laughing when Viv comes over to us to tell us that they're going to start eating and that everything will be gone if we don't hurry up. We still have to giggle a bit when we walk back, receiving weird stares from our teammates.

The rest of the day flies by and before I know, it's already time to go back our houses because tomorrow we've got training again and we need to be fit and well rested. I don't really want to go because today was a great day with Daan. When we're at the parking lot and have to separate to different cars, we stay standing there for a while saying goodbye to each other even though we'll see each other tomorrow at training again.
"I really had a great day today with you Daan." I say.
"Hm? What did you say? Sorry, I was just watching the sunset. It's so beautiful." She says, waking up from a trance.
"I said: I had a great day with you today, Daan." I say, hoping that she will hear me this time.
"I had a good time as well, thanks for the great day." She says, smiling at me with the same smile that I have seen a lot today.
"Daniëlle, come here right now! We gotta leave!" I hear Lisa yell from a distance.
"Oops, sorry, mom is calling me, gotta go." She jokes.
She gives me a quick kiss on my cheek and then runs towards Lisa's voice. Wow. Did she really do that? I can feel my skin burn where she touched it with her lips. A smile appears on my face while I walk back to the car.

This is a day to remember.
