Leo's P.O.V.
At first I don't think it's her. I must be hallucinating. For a moment all I can do is stand here, why did she come after what she said before?Just as it looks like she's getting ready to leave I walk up to the table where she's sitting. The cafe isn't busy today, it often isn't on a Monday afternoon. In the dim light of Madre Tierra her hair appears to be glowing.
She looks so incredibly beautiful right now, her perfectly clear olive skin, her messy gold hair and her soft brown eyes. My heart is racing as she looks up and into my eyes. Surprise spreads across her face, her mouth open and eyes wide.
She looks like a deer caught in headlights, I smile at that, at her. To be honest this is the first time I have been able to read her emotions so openly, I've caught her off guard.
''You came anyway?"
I ask, trying to be playful but I'm not sure she took it well.'What are you doing here? I mean what... Why, I mean I didn't think you would come',
Calypso stutters. This is the first time I have seen her unsure of herself and my confident demeanour fades, as I try to put her at ease.
'Do you Mind if I sit down?' I try asking politely.
She starts to nod but then realising what I asked exactly shakes her head no, she doesn't mind. I like that she realised and corrected herself. Unless she had just changed her mind of course. I'm definitely thinking about this too much.
I grab a wooden seat from the table next to us, a few people are starting to trickle into the cafe. I turn the seat around so I'm sitting on it backwards but still facing her.
'You were pretty clear about the rules, I didn't think you would come!' I say laughing.
'Yet you still came' she says smoothly, playing with the straw in her glass, swirling the ice around at the bottom.
Her gaze softens and she puts her hands on the table and looks down at them, for a moment she's quiet and her eyes are hidden by her long eyelashes.
Then she says softly, but more to herself than me 'I said that we couldn't be friends'.
'You did say that' I say startling her, but then as I see the head waitress from Madre Tierra walking towards me I decide I better mention something about why I'm here before someone else does.
I don't want her to think I wouldn't of come anyway because that's not true.
'What if we tried anyway' I hear Calypso's voice and it drags me from my head to reality. It hits me what she's still talking about.
The reality is that I have a beautiful girl wanting to be friends with me and I'm about to ask her if we could try more than friends since now is as good as any other time. Even though she's not smiling but she's not glaring either, I've always been pretty brave when it comes to girls.
My heart is racing and Calypso is still looking at me, questioning, but just as I open my mouth to say something I hear something else.
The waitress who is named Reyna and is also my boss throws an apron at me which I catch quickly.'Leo, get to work' she barks at me. I look back at calypso just in time to see the look of realisation wash over her, she grabs her bag and stands up.
'You did come, Leo... but not for me.'
Even though she looks close to tears, she laughs rolling her eyes and storms out of the cafe throwing a 5 dollar bill on the counter as she leaves.
My heart aches and I want to run after her but Reyna is glaring at me and my shift started ten minutes ago.
