i waited for zach in the garden sat on the usual bench

after a few minutes he came around the corner and gave a small smile

"hey" he said and i simply answered in a flat tone "hi"

"look i know i have a lot of explaining to do, so i'm gonna start at the beginning, when i went to my dads he decided for me to have the best time, he was going to take my phone and he did"

i nodded and he took a breath

"then when i saw all the messages and calls i wanted to call back but i couldn't something stopped me, guilt" zach said

"i just wanted to hear your voice" i said and he looked into my eyes

"but in the end i realised it wasn't just guilt, before i say this i want you to know you did nothing wrong, okay?"

"okay?" i said unsure of what he was going to say next

"i lost my feelings for you but i-" i cut him off "i should've known it, why? did you find a new girl better than me in texas or something?"

"no i promise!" he said, last time he promised me something it was just words to him, he broke the promise

"was there someone else?"

"no, i just don't have the feelings i had for you anymore"

i stayed silent and looked at the floor before looking back up and at zach's face

his features no longer 'glowed' i just saw him as a normal person, not someone who i wanted to spend my life with

i then proceeded to say something that caused zach to look up at me and the reality hit me

"maybe it was just a stupid crush then?"
