Chapter 14

•Savannah•

I was tapping my foot continuously and very nervous on the floor. I sat in the waiting room by myself. Dried tears stained my face while i cried and cried. I was anxiously waiting for the doctor to come out and tell me that everything was ok. That they were both going to be fine. I heard footsteps come my way so I sat up and straightened up and wiped my face on my sweater. When I turn around, I see Jacob run over to me. I stood up and he ran into my arms. I felt my tears pour out of my eyes while I wrap my arms around his neck. I started to sob in his neck.

"Woahh woah what happened Sav!?" Jacob asked.

"I-I dunno. W-we w-where J-j-just in m-my room a-and n-next thing w-we s-see Anna b-bleeding on the f-floor" I stutter.

He sat me down as I tried to collect myself. I wiped my face and tried to calm down. He looked down on the floor with his hands in his hair. He just stared at the floor.

"How did this happen?" He asked.

"I don't know!" I managed to say.

A nurse about mid aged walked in our direction. She didn't look too happy. I tapped Jacob making him aware. He stood up.

" So?" He asked.

"Well, the good news is that Janice is ok. A little drowsy but she will be fine" She smiled.

I felt such a relief and so Did Jacob. Then the nurse got serious again.

"But Annalise," She started.

"What about her?" I spat standing up.

"She's not in good condition. She has severe bleeding and we found a bullet lodged near her rib cage. We will need to proceed to surgery. But I can't guarantee she will live" She said with a sorrow face.

I felt my stomach turn into knots. I felt this really sharp pain in my heart when she said that. I looked over at Jacob who had his hands through his hair with a blank expression.

"Can we see Janice?" I asked.

"Of course" She said.

She lead us into her room.

"She will be a little groggy but she is ok" She assured us.

We both nodded and walked in. Janice was laying down with her eyes really low just about to close. She looked pale. She looked dead. She didn't look the same. She looked warn out and in pain. It hurt me so much to see her in that way. I knocked on the door frame. She quickly looked up and tried smile. All I wanted to do was jump in her arms and kiss her and just cry with her but I couldn't.

•Prince•

I walked right in the room behind Savannah. Janice looked very pail and weak. It hurt me to see her like this. Janice looked up at us and tried to smile. She reached out for Sav's hand. We both smiled back and Sav took Janice's hand letting a few tears escape from her eyes. Janice looked over up at me. She was kind of surprised to see me but she still smiled. I walked to the other side of her bed and kissed her pale, burning hot forehead.

"Hey J, how are you feeling?" I asked.

"Ok" She whispered in a raspy voice.

"The doctor said your gonna be fine" Sav assures Janice.

She nods and smiles. She barely says anything. I look at her trying not brake down and cry but its hard not to.

"H-how's Anna?" She askes.

I look over at Sav who's already starring back at me. It's like she read my mind. What do we tell her? What do we do?

"Well um, the doctors haven't said anything yet" Sav lies.

I tag along. We wouldn't want to upset J. She's bad as it is already.

"Yeah. But you need to get some rest. Ok? We will be back later." I say kissing her forehead once again.

Sav nods and kissed her cheek.

"I love you J" She says giving her hand a little squeeze and letting go.

"I love you too" She responds.

We march out of her room and to the exit.

"Are you hungry?" I ask Sav.

"Very" She says.

We get in my car. I drive through McDonald's. We sat in silence while we ate. No one talked. It wasn't even awkward it was just quiet. We throw away our trash and get on the road again.

"Can you drop me off at my house please?" Sav asks.

"Yeah." I respond

"So what do we do?" Sav asks.

I couldn't find any words to respond.

"Idunno." Was all that came out.

I drove up her driveway. I stopped. Before she said bye, I pulled on her arm and gave her a bear hug. She hugged me back tightly and smiled at me.
