Chapter 20

Bella's POV

My head hurts, everything is a mess in my head. I can't make sense of anything anymore. My own father, the one who gave me life wants to kill me now, like he killed my mother and I am freaking adopted. It's a whole damn lot to take in all at once. Robin ran and knelt down beside me and picked me up bridal style.

- Are you ok, does it hurt somewhere? He whispered softly while he examined my body for any injuries. I only shook my head.

- I'm fine you can put me down, I can walk. I told him as he let me down. We arrived home and I went straight to my room and changed and went down to the big library.

Damien's POV

My heart aches I can almost feel her pain. But why do feel so attached to her, hell. I went to Jayson's room.

- How do you think she feels? He asked with concern in his voice.

- How do you think she feels if her father is a psychopathic serial killer who wants to murder his own daughter?! I spat but quickly regretted the tone in my voice and looked down at the floor.

- I ...have to go. I said as opened the door and went out. I have to find her, she's probably not in her room. I went down to the library knowing that's one of her favorite places, we usually come here together sometimes to read. I found her on the floor with her head in her between her kneecaps. I went to her and sat down next to her.

- Hi. I said softly as she looked at me with her beautiful brown eyes. I quickly picked her up and placed her on my lap as I hugged her tightly as she embraced me back. She started to shake as she was crying. I gently stroke her back.

- I...you...I order you not to leave my side...you are safe...with me. I tried to get out the words but I'm not good at being touchy feely.

- Thank you for everything Damian. I hugged her tighter and after a while her shaking slowed down and so did her breathing.

- Bella? I whispered and looked at her now closed eyes. She fell asleep. I slowly picked her up as I went towards my room.

- Is she okay? Both me and Kori are really worried. Asked Grayson with his phone next to his ear. I assume he was talking with Kori.

- She is fine for now, she is just drained. I told him as I carried Bella to my bed and laid her sleeping body on it and closed the door behind me as I left her there to rest.

- Come Damian, Bruce wants to see us in the living room for a meeting. I went along with him and saw that the others gathered on the sofa.

- As you all know we discovered Black Phantoms true identity. Bella is now a target and she is in great danger. I want you all to never leave her alone until I find her so called father. Don't tell her under any circumstances that I want you to keep an eye on her. Understood! My father can be so bossy but this may be one of the few times I actually agree with him. We all nodded and he went away.

- Poor Bella, can't we do something to ease her mind as well as ours. I feel like this event drained a lot of energie from all of us! Spoke Tim as Grayson's face lit up at Tim's idea.

- Yeah it's a great idea but what should we do or where should we go? Grayson asked while he got a more serious look.

- We can go to the zoo, that might cheer her up, after all she loves animals. Jayson added.

- What do you think Damian? Grayson asked and in that moment all attention was on me.

- Whatever takes her mind of off this is fine. I said as we saw Bella enter the room. She rubbed her eyes with one hand and yawned.

- Bella guess what, we are going to the zoo tomorrow and Kori and the Titans will also tag along! Bursted Grayson.

- Yeah that's fine with me. She said with a really low sad voice then I saw her walking off so I silently went after her without her knowing it. She headed towards the roof? I went after and climbed up.

- What are you doing here? I asked her and I must have strateled her because she lost her balance and were about to fall of the roof but I quickly ran over to her and caught her by the hand in the last moment as I pulled her towards my chest. She looked into my eyes as we both breathed heavily from the adrenaline rush. I then remembered the position we were in and I immediately let go of her and rubbed the back of my neck as I stared at the black tile.

- I'm sorry that I scared you. I said as we both sat down.

- It's ok. She said. I looked at her as the wind brushed it's invisible fingers through her hair. My heart started racing for some reason.

- Look you shouldn't think so hard about your past, it won't solve anything trust me, all you can do is just look forwards. I told her in hope that those words might cheer her up. She giggled a little and I have to admit I was happy she did.

- You sounded really wise there Mister. She said as she turned to me and smiled. I turned my head because of the visible red colour that coated my cheeks. Dammit what's wrong with me.

- Well you should go and get some rest. I told her as we got up.
