Jay sat down nervously, Kira taking her respective seat across from him.
She was annoyed at the fact she had to send Officers Crystal and Sachhi back to the station, seeing as she trusted them most if she was being honest. But she hoped the other three policemen were handling their jobs correctly.
"So how does this work exactly?" Jay asked, crossing his arms protectively and slouching down a bit in his chair.
Kira grimaced a bit at this, noticing her extremely starlight poster, But clearing her throat she opened her notepad, quickly scribbling down "Jay Allen" at the top.
"Right, it's very simple, Jay. I will ask you only a few simple questions, in your case mostly regarding Arianna and what you know about her and Zakou's, Once we start I will have our conversation recorded as evidence of everything that will be said. Okay?"
Jay slowed, waiting a few seconds before nodding.
"Yeah, as long as Ar gets out of this."
Kira gave a light smile, the best she could muster in stance of the situation.
"I sure hope so."
Before Jay could respond, Kira hit the record button on her machine.
"Jay Allen, you are a possible alibi for Arianna Smith dealing with the case in the murder of Zakou Rosales Mena. Everything and anything you say can and will be used against you if found lying in any way to protect anyone. Understood?"
Jay nodded, then quickly remembered that it was a recording after all.
"Understood, crystal clear." He nodded, shifting in his seat and gripping the sides a little too tightly.
"Perfect. Now let's get started."
Kira paused, Jay anxiously waiting as she flipped back to the page in her notebook where she'd written down about Ari.
"Where were you tonight?" She asked, starting off easy to see if anything Ari said was untrue.
"I was with my sister on the other side of town, helping her move houses with her partner."
Kira nodded, flipping pages again and copying it down as fast as she could.
"Were you invited to the party?"
"Yeah, both Ari and I got invitations, I delivered her's to her."
"How did she respond upon seeing she'd been invited to the Rosales mansion?"
Jay thought for a moment, thinking back to about a week ago.
"Uh, she thought it was kinda suspicious that he'd invite her out of all people, seeing as it was a more exclusive party of his." Jay shrugged slightly, sweeping some of his hair out of his eyes.
"Why do you think she'd been suspicious of being invited? What kind of relationship did Arianna and Zakou have?"
"Well, I think she was suspicious cause Zakou had been honestly scamming her for a bit, she was super fed up with it. And none really, he'd come in every week or so and get a painting. She just got really upset eventually because of how rude he was and how much money she probably lost."
"Right. So why did she decide to come tonight despite being suspicious? Did she give you a reason?"
"Yeah, she wanted to come see if any of her paintings were here. I told her I'd try and help her out, and called one of my old friends to help come check it out with her.I wanted to make sure she was okay even if I wasn't here physically."
Kira nodded slowly, looking back at what she'd written down for Juno.
"Who is this friend of yours?"
"Oh, her name is Leona. Leona Bower, we went to middle and high school together and I knew her from around town, so I knew she'd be able to help me out. I had to pay her of course. It's kinda her business to help people out in jams like that."
"Leona Bower, interesting. I'll have to look into that soon. And what kind of business does she run exactly? What is it called?"
"Oh she doesn't run it. She just helps the person who does, and uh, i think its called the Castillo Business?" Jay said, an unsure look on his face.
It was at this point Kira realized something suspicious was definitely going on.
She paused her recorder, standing up and pulling out her walkie-talkie quickly.
"Please excuse me for a brief moment, I need to report some important information back to the station. We'll continue as soon as I get back."
Jay gave a small nod, and Kira made her way out to right outside the room, that way she could still keep a close eye on Jay, however non-suspicious he was.
Looking back into the room, she held up her walkie-talkie.
"Officer Sachhi, do you copy?"
She waited a moment, hearing the walkie-talkie go to static for a moment.
"I copy Detective Kira. What happened?"
Kira smiled a bit, she could always count on Sachhi.
"I need you to get some information from the girl down at the station. Leona, what's her last name?"
"Oh, we looked up her records for extra measures, her name is Leona Bower."
A grim look crossed Kira's face, but she knew she was closer to the truth now.
"Bring her here, now. Don't tell her anything, I'll explain once you get back here. Hurry back, bring officer Crystal."
And with that, Kira put away her walkie-talkie and reentered the interrogation room, seeing Jay looking a bit more relaxed now.
As Kira sits down, she grabs her pen once again.
"Before you ask, no, what I just reported has nothing to do with Arianna."
She looked back up, seeing Jay sigh with relief, him leaning back more into the chair and looking back over at Kira again.
"So, there's more questions you need to ask I guess?" He asked, Kira merely nodding in return.
"Definitely. The sooner we finish this however, the better. For you and me. Now, I'm going to start up the recording again."
Kira hit the record button once again.
"Now back to the questions then..."
